Weekend Sketch Challenge #70

Time for another Weekend Sketch Challenge! This week's hostess is Lori! If you'd like to play along, head on over to Lori's blog to see the sketch and find out where to post a link to your creation. I decided to use a stamp set I haven't inked up yet. I got Ocean Commotion a little while ago, but haven't had time to play with it. I used a combination of Cuttlebugging and stamping to create my card. The fish was stamped on Pacific Point cardstock in black ink and then I highlighted parts with a white gel pen and added some Waterfall Stickles to make the fish sparkly. Be sure and check out what Beate, Cambria, Jenn, Lori, MaryJo and Sharon. I'm sure they are all fabulous! Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Ocean Commotion, Heard From the Heart (SU); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Pacific Point, Soft Sky, Baja Breeze Kiwi Kiss (SU); Accessories- Welcome Baby and Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folders (Provocraft), Waterfall Stickles, white gel pen, Dew Drops (The Robin's Nest), Kiwi Kiss ribbon (SU); Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Hey Sugar!

Here is a card I made for yesterday's Sketch Challenge on SCS. I used the Look Who's Perky set from Paper Pretties. I just love this adorable little sugar bowl! :) The sketch was perfect for smaller images, and I just LOVE this sentiment. It reminds me of my grandma who is from the South. Of course, her version would have an "ah" at the end instead of the "ar"! LOL

Don't forget that Sunday at 7pm EST is the Prettie Pajama Party in the Paper Pretties Forums! I'll be issuing a challenge every hour so be sure to come and play along!! Besides the challenges, chatter, and all around fun, we will also be releasing Bunny Hop Sophia to the public as well as a new stamp set!! Sneak peeks start tomorrow, Friday, February 27th!!

It is also time for another CUTIE PIE CONTEST!!! All you have to do to enter is upload a card you have made using Paper Pretties stamps to the Cutie Pie Contest gallery over at the Paper Pretties website. Entries must be in no later than 9pmEST on February 28th to be considered for the prize. Besides getting to call yourself a CutiePie, you will also receive all the new stamps that are released on the 1st!! Good luck!! I hope to see you there! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Look Who's Perky (Paper Pretties); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- So Saffron (SU), patterned paper (Memory Box); Accessories- double stitched grosgrain (Darice); Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

A Dreamy Challenge

This month's Dreamy Challenge at Stamper's Dream was to create a 3 degree monochromatic card. . .using a light, medium and dark of one color. I used all pink. The image is from the Butterfly Beauties set from Stampendous and the sentiment is from the Expressions set from Inkadinkado. . .both available at Stamper's Dream. The papers are all Pink Prismatics from Prism Papers, consisting of Iced Pink, Frosted Pink and Intense Pink.

We'd LOVE for you to play along! If you upload to SCS, please use keyword SDDC5. Michelle is offering some Dreamy Treats to a lucky winner, so be sure and link your creation to the comments section of Michelle's blog! Stop and see what the fabulous Dream Team has come up with for this sketch!

PTI February Blog Hop

This month's Blog Hop Challenge was to incorporate the flowers, sights and colors of spring into your project. It's been a while since I've been able to participate in the Blog Hop, so when I found a little extra time today, I thought I'd create a "springy" card for a friend. I used the Beautiful Blooms set from Papertrey Ink with Berry Sorbet and So Saffron to give a light, spring feel. The flowers are all die cut using the largest die in the Flowers Cuttlebug die set. I attached them to the top of the card front and trimmed the end flowers. It gives a nice texture to the, otherwise, simple card. You can see all of the creations of those participating in the Blog Hop tonight in the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Forum. Thanks for stopping by! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Beautiful Blooms (PTI); Ink- So Saffron (SU), Berry Sorbet (PTI), Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- So Saffron (SU), white (Georgia-Pacific); Accessories- Flowers Die set (Provocraft), Berry Sorbet ribbon (PTI), paper piercer; Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

SASI Teacher Gift Peek

Here's a peek of a teacher gift I posted on the Stamp a Sweet Impression blog today! I'd love it if you'd click on over and tell me what you think! Thanks, and have a great day!

Prettie Wednesday

Two weeks ago, Jodi challenged the Prettie Girls to make a "card of ones". . .one layer, one embellishment, one image, one sentiment. This is just my kind of challenge! :) The only thing I had to keep myself from doing was adding piercings across the top. LOL I couldn't live without my paper piercer, you know. . .but that would make two embellishments, so I had to hold off on this card. I decided to bring out some summer stamps. It's been so sunny lately even though it's been cold and the girls keep asking about going swimming in Aunt Donna's pool this summer, so I was inspired to use the Beach Bum set from Paper Pretties. Doesn't it make you excited for summer? I know I can't wait! Be sure and check out what the other Prettie Girls have created for this challenge:

We will be issuing a challenge every hour so be sure to come and play along!! Besides the challenges, chatter, and all around fun, we will also be releasing Bunny Hop Sophia to the public as well as a new stamp set!! Sneak peeks start on Friday, February 27th!! My Friend

Here's a funky little card using the Patterned Pets set from Inkadinkado paired with some of my favorite Basic Grey paper. You can find the stamps at Stamper's Dream! You'll love the funky patterns on the different "pets" in the set. . .they really are adorable! I stamped the turtle on the Basic Grey paper, cut it out and then added some white highlights. The sentiment is a stamp I found in the $1 bin at Michael's a long time ago. I thought it worked well for a fun little card. Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Patterned Pets (Inkadinkado), sentiment (Kolette Hall); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Phoebe (Basic Grey), Rose Red (SU), white (Georgia-Pacific); Accessories- wide Celery grosgrain (SU), scallop circle punch (Marvy Uchida), white gel pen, Dew Drops (The Robin's Nest); Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Little Lady

Here's a little card I made a little while ago for a WONDERFUL little lady for her birthday. :) I was lucky enough to win this set, Framed Friends, from GinaK Designs. Of course, the first stamp I had to ink up in the set was the ladybug! The sentiment is from A Muse. I colored the image in with Copic markers and trimmed closely around the framed image. I added some Cuttlebugging across the top with the Just My Type Cuttlebug folder. Hopefully the recipient liked their card! :) Thanks for stopping by today and I hope your week is off to a great start! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Framed Friends (GinaK Designs), A Muse; Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Pure Poppy (PTI), Basic Black (SU), white (Georgia-Pacific); Accessories- Just My Type Cuttlebug folder (Provocraft), scallop border punch, circle punch, horizontal slot punch (SU), Copic markers, organdy ribbon (Darice); Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Little Things

Here's a card for the latest Viva La Verve Challenge. The "twist" with this sketch was to use some acetate. I stamped my sentiment on acetate. I used the Petals & Stems set from Verve Stamps. What's really cool is that it's on sale right now! Yep! Actually a lot of the stamps are on sale right now for the Making Room For March sale! Be sure and check it out! Julee needs to make room for Verve's biggest release yet! Wait until you see all the new stuff coming in March! :) Sneak peeks start on the Verve blog next Monday, March 2nd! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Petals & Stems (Verve Stamps); Ink- Lovely Lilac, Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst (SU), StazOn Black; Paper- acetate, Lily Kate (Basic Grey), DCWV; Accessories- 3 butterfly punch (Martha Stewart), Dew Drops (The Robin's Nest), polka dot organdy ribbon (May Arts); Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Beate Weekend Sketch #69

It's Friday and time for another Weekend Sketch Challenge! I got this Stampin' Up set a little while ago, but this is the first time I've inked it up. . .a shame, I know! Of course, you know which image I HAD to use first, right? LOL I colored the image using Copic markers (with some highlights using a white gel pen) and added one of the tiny butterflies from the Martha Stewart 3 Butterfly punch to the panel. The sentiment is from the Heartfelt Phrases set from Verve.

Be sure and stop to see what Beate, Cambria, Jenn, Laurie, Lori, MaryJo and Sharon have created using this sketch! I can't wait to see! Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful weekend! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- A Flower For All Seasons (SU); Heartfelt Phrases (Verve Stamps); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Summer Sunrise, Dark Chocolate (PTI), patterned paper (DCWV); Accessories- Copic markers, paper piercer, brads (Making Memories), Threading Water punch (Fiskars), Summer Sunrise ribbon (PTI), 3 butterfly punch (Martha Stewart), white gel pen; Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25

Groovy Ballerina

After pulling out my Groovy Guava cardstock last week, I thought I'd use it again with Sophia Ballerina, the Stamp of the Month Club stamp for March from Paper Pretties. I don't know why, but I LOVE to make clean, simple cards when using this stamp. I find it hard to add extra layers. Maybe it's because when I think of ballet, I think of the words "natural" and "graceful"-- and clean and simple cards usually fit into that category for me. Sophia is watercolored in Groovy Guava and I added some sparkle to her skirt with a Spica Clear Glitter pen. The band of embossing was made using my Scor-Pal and the Just My Type Cuttlebug folder. Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Sophia Ballerina (Paper Pretties); Ink- Groovy Guava (SU); Paper- white (Georgia-Pacific), Groovy Guava (SU); Accessories- organdy ribbon (Darice), Just My Type Cuttlebug folder (Provocraft), Aquapainter, Scor-Pal; Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Prettie Wednesday

Two weeks ago, Jessie challenged the Prettie Girls to create a card using Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss and Cameo Coral. The closest thing I had to Cameo Coral was Groovy Guava, so I hope that counts, Jessie! :) These turned out to be pretty funky colors for an Easter card! I LOVE them! I used Bunny Hop Sophia, which will be available for purchase on March 1st at Paper Pretties!

Please mark that date on your calendar for our release party complete with chatting, challenges, prizes and a Cutie Pie! That's right! You can enter our Cutie Pie contest! All you have to do to enter is upload a card you have made using Paper Pretties stamps to the Cutie Pie Contest gallery over at the Paper Pretties website. Entries must be in no later than 8pmCST on February 28th to be considered for the prize. Besides getting to call yourself a CutiePie, you will also receive ALL the new stamps that are released on the 1st!! Good luck!!

Hearts in Full Bloom

I made this for yesterday's Technique Lover's Challenge on SCS, to make a Round Top Box. I've never made one of these before, but they're really cute! I used the Love Grows set from Inque Boutique, which you can find at Stamper's Dream. The back panel is Cuttlebugged with the Floral Fantasy folder and I used the Plain Heart Nestabilities to highlight the word "heart" in the sentiment. The box is filled with marshmallow hearts that my kids received for Valentine's Day. . .they LOVE them! If you ever need a simple and adorable little box, try this one! Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Love Grows (Inque Boutique); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss (SU); Accessories- Floral Fantasy Cuttlebug folder (Provocraft), organdy ribbon (Darice), Threading Water punch (Fiskars), Plain Heart Nestabilities (Spellbinders), ric rac, SU markers

Little Treat Box

Here's one last little Valentine treat I made. I used a portion of an image from the A Year of Sweets 1 set from Taylored Expressions. The box is also from Taylored Expressions. It's the Square Box with Lid and it makes it VERY easy to whip up a little treat box in no time! I added some Taylor's Tiny Twinkles to the cherry on the Cupid Cuppie's head and on the scallops that line the lid of the box. The box is filled with Hershey's Kisses and finally tied with some wide grosgrain ribbon. An adorable little gift that didn't take much time to put together at all! If you haven't looked at the Favor Boxes that Taylor offers in the store, you'll definitely want to check them out! You'll LOVE them! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- A Year of Sweets 1 (Taylored Expressions); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Desert Coral Light, Classic Red (Prism Papers); Accessories- Square Box with Lid, Taylor's Tiny Twinkles, wide grosgrain (Taylored Expressions), circle punches, Copic markers.

Savannah Ballerina

You knew that I would eventually have to make a scrapbook page of my little ballerina with the Sophia Ballerina stamp, didn't you? :) I couldn't find the actual picture I was thinking of, so I had to use this one. I LOVE this picture, but it was taken with my cell phone, so the quality of the picture isn't very good. The picture I was looking for is somewhere in our computer picture files, I just don't know where! LOL

Savannah has to wear pink tights and leotard for her dance classes, so I always picture Sophia in pink. Sophia Ballerina is the Stamp of the Month Club stamp over at Paper Pretties! If you "need" her now, sign up for the club and you'll receive her the month before she's released to the public. Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Sophia Ballerina (Paper Pretties); Paper- Pink Pirouette (SU), white (Georgia-Pacific); Accessories- Dew Drops (The Robin's Nest), paper piercer, Copic markers, Stardust and Cotton Candy Stickles, organdy ribbon (Darice), scallop border punch (SU), Liquid Pearls in Opal; Finished page measures 6" square.

Celebrate!

Here's a card using the Birthday Cakes clear set from Impression Obsession. You can find this set at Stamper's Dream along with the Labels Two Nestabilities I used. These colors aren't my normal color combo, but I was going for "happy" and "bright". :) Aren't those little cupcakes on the candle just adorable? Too cute. Michelle has added LOTS of new stuff to the store! If you haven't been there in a little while, make sure you check out what's new! Have you seen the new My Mind's Eye papers? OH MY!

To You From Me

This is for today's Technique Lover's Challenge on SCS, Cut It Out. . .to cut out a portion of an embossed design or patterned paper and add it to your card. I chose the Flower Circle Cuttlebug folder, which I haven't used in ages. I added a little color with pastels since the plain flower didn't quite look right. I'm still not sure I like the pastels, but at least they're subtle. :)

I don't know about you, but we had some BEAUTIFUL weather this weekend! It was close to 60 degrees, which is WARM for Pittsburgh in February! It's still nice today too. :) Hope your week is off to a great start! Thanks for stopping by today! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Best Yet (SU); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine), Paper- Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky (SU), white (Georgia-Pacific); Accessories- clear button (FooFaLa), Circle Flower and Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder (Provocraft); Water Dew Drops (The Robin's Nest), pastels, Wild Wasabi double stitched ribbon (SU); Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Warm Wishes

Yep, it's another card using Kraft cardstock! I've just been in a Kraft mood lately. :) This card is for the Casual Midweek Challenge at Papertrey Ink. I used the Snowfall and Snowfall Additions sets. Instead of white craft ink, I used a Snow Cap paint dauber from Adirondak. As soon as I stamped the mittens and the snowflake in paint, I poured Dazzling Diamonds glitter on them. They are both nice and sparkly! Thanks, Lynn, for the awesome sketch!

Hope you're all staying warm! Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful Friday! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Snowfall, Snowfall Additions (PTI); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine), Snow Cap Paint Dauber (Adirondak); Paper- white (Georgia-Pacific), Kraft (PTI); Accessories- gemstones, scallop border punch (SU), snowflake punch (Marvy Uchida), Dazzling Diamonds glitter (SU), paper piercer. Finished card measures 4.25"x5.5"

Dreaming With Your Feet

Have I told you that this is my favorite Sophia? You can probably guess why! Sophia Ballerina is the February Stamp of the Month Club stamp from Paper Pretties.

For my card, I wanted her to be in all white. I edged her leotard, skirt and tights in a light blue to enhance the white, but I'm seeing too much blue. Oh well. :) I used some White Opal Liquid Pearls, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and Stardust Stickles to give the card lots of sparkle. I just LOVE this sentiment. It's perfect for anyone you know who's a dancer! Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you're having a great week! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Sophia Ballerina (Paper Pretties); Paper- Kraft (PTI), white (Georgia-Pacific); Accessories- Copic markers, white organdy ribbon (Darice), large oval punch (SU), Welcome Baby Cuttlebug folder (Provocraft), Liquid Pearls in White Opal, Stardust Stickles, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (SU); Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25

Prettie Wednesday

Two weeks ago, Danielle challenged the Prettie Girls to use something "texture-y" on our card. A long while ago, I saw this stuff called Glitter Snow and I bought some. It is pretty neat. It's glittery and it looks/feels like plaster. I, however, don't use it very often because it's pretty messy. I usually use a small paint brush to apply it, but even with that, it's a little hard to control. I think it would work better on wood projects, etc. rather than cards. In any case, it does LOOK great on cards and adds a 3D quality to the image. I used the Snowflake Kisses set from Paper Pretties. Make sure you check out what the other Prettie Girls have come up with for this challenge:

Enjoy Every Moment

Isn't this image just adorable? It reminds me of a picture my mom had hanging in our home. It is called A Kiss For Chloe by Sarah Kay. You can find it at Stamper's Dream. When I was thinking about a sentiment to go with this image, I remembered a morning a couple of weeks ago. Isaac was up the earliest, so I brought him downstairs with me in the morning. A little later, Arwen was calling for me, so I went upstairs to get her. When I brought her down the steps, Isaac was sitting at the bottom bouncing up and down, very excited to see his sister. I put Arwen down beside Isaac and he leaned in and wrapped his arms around her for a hug, then pulled away a bit and opened his mouth wide and planted his open mouth on her lips. It was the most precious moment. . .the kind you wish you had a camera ready for! So, in memory of that moment, I thought the sentiment "enjoy every moment" would go well with this image. Maybe the next time that happens I'll have a camera ready and can make a scrapbook page using this image and sentiment!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you have a wonderful day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- A Kiss For Chloe (Stampavie), Thoughtful Messages (Hero Arts); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- K&Company, Teal Prismatics (Prism Papers); Accessories- Copic markers, paper piercer, 1 3/4" circle punch, wide Celery grosgrain (SU); Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Rain or Shine

This is for today's Technique Lover's Challenge on SCS, Recessed Window. My original idea was to make this look like the view out a window from the inside of a house, but I'm not sure that reads. I DO like the look of the recessed window, though. . .kind of like a frame! I used the A Year of Sweets 1 and A Year of Sweet Sentiments sets from Taylored Expressions, along with the Valentine Key Ingredients.
My post is so late today because I just couldn't get myself going this morning! This weekend, my husband and I had a show and then last night was the Superbowl, so we had a very busy day! Yay STEELERS! :) Hope you're having a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- A Year of Sweets 1, A Year of Sweet Sentiments (Taylored Expressions); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Valentine Key Ingredients (Taylored Expressions); Accessories- Copic markers, paper piercer, Stardust Stickles; Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"
