Verve Spotlight Hops - Day 2

Welcome back for Day 2 of the New Release Spotlight Hops!!  Hopefully you've come from Andrea's Blog.  Today we're featuring a set called Merry and Bright.  I just LOVE the font in the Merry and Bright set and I hope you will too!!  For my card I used papers from the Merry & Bright Collection from Carte Bella.  I love the "light and airy" feel the colors in this collection give.  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of patterned paper die cut with the Curvy Bookplate Die.  The snowflakes from the set were stamped and embossed on the blue cardstock and I added a little bling as well.

We're releasing four new sets and a plain jane this Friday, November 2! Please join us each day this week as we showcase the new sets and count down to our release! All of the stamps you see featured will be available in the Verve store following our release party from 9-11pm Eastern on Friday, November 2!   And remember, we've picked a mystery blog from today's hop and hidden a prize! Mojo Trick or Treat

I don't know about you, but I'm trying to get school Halloween treats put together and I decided to take some time to make a card using this week's Mojo Monday Sketch.  I grabbed some papers from the Chillingsworth Manor Collection from Echo Park along with the Boo To You set from Verve.  Boo To You is the October Stamp of the Month and is 40% off through October 31st while supplies last!!

Since I created a Halloween card, I thought I should replace the flower in the sketch with something else.  So, I created this little embellishment using the ghosts and pumpkin from the set along with a button and some hemp.  The ghosts and pumpkins were colored using Copic markers, distressed and then coated in Rock Candy Stickles.  Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope you're having a wonderful day!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Boo To You (Verve Stamps); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Burnt Umber (Palette), Orange Zest, Smokey Shadow (PTI); Paper- Chillingsworth Manor (Echo Park); Accessories- Plain Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Scallop Border Punch (SU), Rock Candy Stickles (Ranger), button;  Finished card measures 4.25"x5.5"

Baker's Dozen October Studio Challenge

It's time for the Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge. This is a monthly opportunity for us to share what makes our stamping studios hum. Each month we will have a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorites, some tips and tricks, stamping advice and more.

The theme for October is:
Good things come in small packages! The holiday season is upon us and between Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukah, and Christmas there are a ton of opportunities to create and give little treats, gifts, and party favors. Please show us something you'll be giving this year.

I decided to create little classroom treat bags.  Now that three of my kids are in school and each class has at least 16 students, I need treats that are quick and easy to create.  I filled little cello bags with some Halloween treats and made toppers for the bags.  The toppers were created using the Label Stacklets 1 from TE folded in half.  I used the largest stacklet to die cut the orange pieces and the next smallest to cut the patterned pieces for the topper.  The patterned papers are from the Enchanted Collection from Authentique.  I used the Spooky Fence Border Die along with images from the Fangtastic set to create the "spooky" scene on the toppers.  The sentiments were stamped on cardstock die cut by the Fly Your Flag 2 Coordinating Die

This is a great project for the kids to actually help!  While I was creating the toppers, the kids filled the little bags with the treats.  Once all of the toppers are finished, sealing the bags and attaching the toppers goes pretty quickly. . .especially when you have some helping hands.  :)

Please visit the rest of the Baker's Dozen to see what treats they've created!!

Mojo Get Well

It's been a while since I've been able to play along with the Mojo Monday Sketch.  I had a little time today, so I got to work!  :)  I used a sentiment from the Treasured Words set.  The papers are from The Sweetest Thing Collection from My Mind's Eye.

I LOVED the different layers of the sketch.  I created the sentiment circle and matte using Plain Circle Nestabilities.  I used the Flourished Trim Die for the edge of one piece of patterned paper.  The little tab was created by using a piece of paper die cut with the Vintage Oval Frame Die.  As a finishing touch, I added the wooden heart button with some twine.

You can visit the Mojo Monday Blog for details on playing along and to see some inspiration from other participants!  Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day!

Merry Christmas

I was playing with the latest release from Taylored Expressions and ended up creating this card using the new Poster Graphic Alpha along with the Very Merry Companion Die.  I die cut the letters and "merry" from the different patterned papers in the Handmade Holiday Project Pantry

I cut 1 1/8" inch squares out of cardstock and adhered them to the card in a 3 x 3 square.  The letters were glued to the squares to spell "Christmas".  I sponged "merry" a bit before attaching it to the card with foam tape.  As a finishing touch, I tied and added a little bow to the corner of the card and random Tiny Twinkles.  Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great weekend!
