Warmed By Your Friendship

Good morning!  I am so happy that today's Friday!!  I have a card for you today using some of the latest products from Taylored Expressions.  The papers are from the Walnut Grove Collection from Pebbles.  I set up a window scene using the Arched Window Die, Window AccessoriesFlower Box Sprigs & Flowers Dies and the Window Cat Die.  Once I die cut all of the piecs and arranged them in the scene, I stamped the fireplace image from A Glimpse Inside

The chair within the fireplace image is paper pieced with a polka dot pattern from the Walnut Grove Collection.  I added yellow centers to the flowers in the flower box with a Viva Pearl Pen.  I just LOVE the cat sitting on the window looking inside the warm, cozy room!  The sentiment was stamped on a piece of cardstock die cut with the Fly Your Flag 2 Die.  To finish the card off, I added some pearls on either side of the sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Taylored Expressions April Studio Challenge

It's time for the Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge.  This is a monthly opportunity for the Taylored Expressions team to share what makes our stamping studios hum.  Each month we  have a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorites, some tips and tricks, stamping advice and more.

The theme for April is:
Mix & Match!  TE stamp sets are designed with plenty of images and sentiments so they are "self-contained" for lots of creativity, but sometimes it's fun to mix and match several different sets for even more possibilities.
Your challenge is to create a project using three or more TE stamp sets.
When I first read the theme for this month, I panicked a little. . .only because I usually stick to using one stamp set for most of my creations.  About the only thing I'll mix and match is a sentiment from one set with an image from another set.  So, when I set out to look through my TE stamps and figure out which 3 or more sets I was going to use, I thought a background was a good place to start.  I just LOVE the Cloudy Days Background stamp and haven't used it in a long while, so I started with that.  Once I had my background, that pretty much dictated the "style" I needed to look for in the other stamps.  I thought fun and cute was the theme.

My next selection was the Beach Bum set.  This is an old favorite of mine.  I thought the sandcastle image would be perfect with the cloud background.  Next in my selection was the sentiment.  I chose the Beach a la Carte.  It was a nice, big and bold sentiment that I thought complimented the scene very well.  I just had to alter it a little.  The palm tree is actually on the right side when stamped.  I omitted it, then stamped it separately and cut it out and adhered it to the left side to work with my layout.  The sentiment was die cut using the Banner Stacklets 1.  Just because I wanted to add a little more to the scene, I went ahead and chose a 4th stamp set.  The mussel and fish are from the Under the Sea set.  I stamped them each, colored them with Copic markers and added them to the scene with foam tape.

So, when I started the card, I decided on fun and cute since that's what the background was.  Once I selected the Beach Bum set, the rest of my card was dictated by a "beach theme".  That made selecting the rest of the sets much simpler.  Give it a try!  It's not as hard as you think!  ;)  I'm excited to see what the rest of the Baker's Dozen used for their creations!!

      Love You

Hi there!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend!  Our weekend was pretty full, but it was a great weekend.  :)  Today I have another post for you using the newest Stamp of the Month from Taylored Expressions, Simple Greetings.  I've used the coordinating papers from the Key Ingredients Subscription for my card.

I stamped the flowers from the set to match the papers and cut them out to create this little bunch.  The sentiment was stamped in white craft ink and embossing in white on the black cardstock.  The chevron pattern on the right side is actually a little strip that's adhered to the inside of the card.  I trimmed a bit off the front of the card so that the banner would hang over to meet the inside/back end of the card.  Black pearls were added to the centers of the flowers as well as some faux stitching with a white gel pen.

      Mojo Shining Star

Boy did this week get away from me!  I did have some time this morning to play along with the Mojo Monday Sketch.  I decided to pull out some embossing folders to use on background for the sketch rather than cardstock.  I used the Shining Star set from Verve along with the Starry Die to create my card.

The background was embossed with a stars embossing folder from Sizzix and and striped one from Stampin' Up.  The little bit of patterned paper I used is from the Campfire Collection from October Afternoon.  For the little black pearls on either side of the focal point, I used a black Viva Pearl Pen.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!  Thanks for stopping by today!

      So Beautiful

The April Diva Dare is happening on the Verve Blog right now.  This month we are challenging you to "Bright Blooms and Butterflies", a combination of mine and Diva Marisa's (Rosemary Reflections) signature styles. I often use bright colors on my cards and Marisa uses lots of flowers and butterflies. So this month, we dare you to create a colorful card using either a flower or butterfly image, (or if you'd prefer... a fun die shape) as the focal element.

It's funny. . .when I sat down to make my card, I felt so much pressure!  LOL  The flower and butterfly part of the challenge was easy, but when I thought "make a card in my signature style", for some reason the pressure was on.  I never really thought I had a "signature style". . .or at least I just never thought about it.  When I create, I don't usually think "hmmm. . .where's my bright papers?"  So I thought about it and yes I do LOVE color!  I love bright, fun colors. . .I love soft, sweet colors and I really love pops of color.  I decided to go with a pop of color for my card.  I used the So Fluttery set for my card along with a flower from the Surely Goodness set.  The butterflies were die cut using the Flutterby Die and then stamped with the Flannel Kaleidacolor pad.  When I was thinking about "my signature style", I felt like I stamped and embossed in white on black cardstock a lot, so I incorporated that into this card.  The flowers were stamped in Versamark and embossed in black.

So, would you consider this card "my signature style"?  I hope so. . .or I've failed the challenge!  LOL  To play along with us or to see everyone else's take on the challenge, visit the Verve Blog!   We hope you play along because we LOVE to see what you create!!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

      Congrats GRAD!

It's getting to be that time of year when I'll need quite a few graduation cards.  I don't usually think about that until the graduations are here and I'm scrambling to make a card!  LOL  This card is clean and simple.  I used the GRAD A la Carte from Taylored Expressions along with paper from the Park Bench Collection by Fancy Pants.

I stamped the image onto Choice Snow White cardstock and then again on the polka dot patterned paper.  I paper pieced the sentiment by cutting out the polka dot image and gluing it over the image stamped on white cardstock.  I added a little tab in the corner using the Simple Tabs Die Set.   For something unexpected, I added a few black pearls to the tab.

I thought this card would be perfect for a high school grad.  It's not "so" formal.  :)  Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
