So Sweet of You

This morning, I was able to play in Becky's Compose a Card Challenge.  The funny thing is, the challenge called for black wool felt and I didn't have any!  So, I found some felt flowers in my stash.  They were pink and orange, so I took one and used my Black Copic marker to make it black!  So, there's my black felt!  LOL  I used the Signature Greetings set from Papertrey Ink as well as a flower stem from Garden of Life.  The buttons are also from Papertrey Ink.  I added some faux stitching around the focal panel to ground it a little more.  Finally, a little ribbon around the stem finished it off!

If you get a chance, play along!  The challenge is a lot of fun. . .and it's a lot of fun to see what each person does with the same card "recipe"!  The cards all look so different!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Signature Greetings, Garden of Life (PTI); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Bitty Dot Basics, Cream, Spring Rain (PTI);  Accessories- buttons (PTI), flower (SU), ribbon (Darice), black pen, paper piercer;  Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

You Are My Sunshine

When I was working on something for the last PTI Blog Hop using buttons, I just kept using buttons!  As I've said before, I just LOVE all of my button bits sets.  I especially love this little bug from the Baby Button Bits set.  The sentiment is from the Handwritten Notes set.  After I covered the bug's wings with Stardust Stickles, I added a red, glittery button with a smaller, black button on top.  I thought that would give the illusion of a ladybug.  As a finishing touch, I added some faux stitching with a paper piercer and white gel pen down the right side of the card.
Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a day full of sunshine!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Baby Button Bits, Handwritten Notes (Papertrey Ink); Paper- True Black, Stamper's Select White (PTI);  Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Versamark; Accessories- white embossing powder, gingham ribbon (Darice), buttons (PTI), white gel pen, paper piercer;  Finished card measures 4.25"x3.5"

Spring Has Sprung

The weather here has been going back and forth between nice and sunny, to rainy, to sunny but chilly!  Spring is definitely here with the sounds of the birds and with how it's lighter in the mornings.  I thought the colors in these papers were perfect for this kind of weather. . .a little bright and "sunny", but a little dark or muted and "cloudy".  All of these papers are from the Easter Key Ingredients from Taylored Expressions.  The stamps are from the Favorite Peeps set.  I stamped the flower three times, colored them and then cut them out.  They are attached to the sentiment panel using dimensional adhesive.  I stuck a couple of buttons in between them to add a little interest.  The sentiment was stamped and cut out using the Labels Ten Nestabilities.  I added a butterfly rub-on to the patterned paper.  Finally I added some faux stitching with a white gel pen along the left side.
Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope you're having a "Springy" day!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Favorite Peeps (Taylored Expressions); Ink-Spanish Olive (VersaMagic), Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Easter Key Ingredients (Taylored Expressions); Accessories- ribbon, buttons from Key Ingredients (Taylored Expressions), Copic markers, Labels Ten Nestabilities (Spellbinders), white gel pen, rub-ons (SEI);  Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Verve Project Parade

This month's Project Parade theme for Verve is Fun With Flowers. I created this little flower tray (or basket) for a birthday gift.  I used the Easter Basket tutorial over at SCS and just left off the handle.  The daffodils were cut using my Silhouette.  I then stamped, embossed and cut the flowers from the Feel the Sun set.  I stamped the flowers on Hibiscus Burst, Lemon Tart and Certainly Celery cardstock and embossed them in white.  Then I cut the pieces and layered them using dimensional adhesive to create the flowers.  I used craft wire for the stems.  I even created a little holder for the sentiment within the flower arrangement.  The sentiment on the box is the Happy Birthday Plain Jane.  After attaching the wire stems to the inside bottom of the box, I added the green filler.  Then I attached the flowers to the top of the stems.

I thought this would make a great birthday gift by itself, but you can always slide a gift card in the tray for a little something extra!

If you're interested in winning some Verve goodness, head on over to the Verve Blog to play along with this month's theme and find out how you can win!  I hope you'll play!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great weekend!

PTI March Blog Hop

It's the 25th and time for another Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!  This month's challenge was to use buttons!  I was never really a "button lover" as far as embellishments go.  (I know, I know!)  Ever since PTI came out with the button bits sets, I have been IN LOVE with buttons!  I have every single one of the button bits sets.

For my card, I used the Baby Button Bits set for the images and the Blooming Button Bits for the sentiment.  I used some Raspberry Fizz cardstock along with some PTI buttons and one Doodlebug polka dot button.  The bug just HAD to be polka dotted!  LOL  I also used the Polka Dot Basics II set to add a little border to the background.  I tied some Rustic Cream Button Twine through the buttons after coloring the images with Copic markers.  I added some Stardust Stickles to the bug's wings.
If you'd like to see lots of inspiration using buttons, go to the March Blog Hop thread and click on the links to see what everyone's created!  Thanks for stopping by!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Baby Button Bits, Blooming Button Bits, Polka Dot Basics II (PTI); Ink- Raspberry Fizz, Fresh Snow (PTI); Paper- Raspberry Fizz (PTI); Accessories- buttons, Rustic Cream Button Twine (PTI), polka dot button (Doodlebug), Copic markers, Stardust Stickles;  Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

JustRite Mega March Blog Hop Day 2

I have a project to share with you using the Beautiful Blossoms and Seeds of Kindness sets from JustRite. I decided to create a little decor that would light up any room! At least any room in my home! :) I used the Nested Flower die from Spellbinders to create my flower. I cut out the picture of my kids using a Plain Circle Nestabilities die, mounted it onto some Certainly Celery cardstock and attached that to the flower center. I stamped the flowers from the Beautiful Blossoms set onto white cardstock, colored, cut out and attached to the large flower. I stuck some play dough (have lots of that!) into the bottom of the planter and stuck the sucker stick for the flower stem into the play dough. I put some green filler in the pot for grass. Finally, I stamped the sentiment onto Dark Chocolate cardstock with white craft ink and embossed it in white. I die cut a tiny butterfly to attach over the stamped butterfly, punched out the circle and attached it to my flower pot.

30 designers, FIVE shopping sprees each day. No one knows where the prizes will be! Each day of the hop JustRite will have five Mystery Blog Candy Prizes hidden along the hop with a total retail value of $600. JustRite will randomly select five mystery blogs each day of the hop and randomly allocate each of the shopping sprees. For your chance to win, simply leave a little love (a comment) on each designer’s blog including the JustRite blog. The more designers you leave comments with, the better your chances of winning. Each day’s comments will remain open for three days. A winner from each of the mystery blogs’ comments will be randomly chosen using Random.org. Consult the listing of designers at the JustRite blog each day (each day’s designers will be different) and start out on your way! Beginning Friday, March 26, summaries of all the winners will be posted on the JustRite blog. Good luck to everyone and enjoy all the JustRite eye candy along the hop!

Today during the JustRite Mega March Blog Hop (Day Two) JustRite and its sponsors will be giving away the following five prizes:

· $200 JustRite Shopping Spree
· $100 Spellbinders Shopping Spree
· $100 Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Spree, and
· Two additional $100 JustRite Shopping Sprees!

Blog comments for Day Two will be open until Friday at 6pm EST. On Saturday, JustRite will announce on their blog which five blogs have the mystery candy for Day Two. You will need to go to the JustRite blog to determine where you need to go to find out if you are one of the five lucky winners.

Hey There, Sunshine

This past weekend, I was chatting a bit with my super sweet friend Julee and we were talking about Hello Kitty at one point. (she's Julee's favorite!) We realized we both had this BIG Hello Kitty face die that we never use because it's so big! LOL So, Julee inspired me to get it out and use it!

On both cards, the background behind the face is embossed with large polka dots. . .one of my QuicKutz folders. It doesn't show up too well in the photos. For both cards, I also used the same sentiment. One of my absolute favorites from Verve, Sunshine from the Plain Jane Collection. I thought it went perfectly with Hello Kitty. I almost used a Happy Birthday sentiment, but since I couldn't think of any little girl (or big girl) birthdays for which these cards would be appropriate, I thought an everyday sentiment would be best. My girls have been trying to snatch these cards off my desk since I made them! LOL So, drag something you've got in your stash out and create with it today!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Sunshine (Verve Stamps); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Melon Mambo, Basic Black (SU); Accessories- Hello Kitty die (Sizzix), Polka Dots folder (QuicKutz), Stardust Stickles, ribbon (SU), white gel pen; Finished cards measure 5.5"x4.25"

We've Moved Sketch

I was able to play in the Our Craft Lounge Design Team Sketch Challenge this past weekend. I used the New Digs set for my card. The paper is from the Garden Variety Collection from Cosmo Cricket. I just love all of the happy colors in the paper. I colored the images using Copic markers. The little tag was cut using a Cuttlebug die.
Remember, you can win some OCL stamps just by playing along! If you love sketches, we'd love to see what you create with this one! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- New Digs (OCL); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Garden Variety (Cosmo Cricket), Prism Papers; Accessories- tag die (Provocraft), white gel pen, button (PTI), Copic markers; Finished card measures 4.25"x5.5"

Sweet Sunday Sunshine

I just love having some time on Sundays to participate in Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch. I love it because Sunday's usually a more laid back day for us, and Karen's sketches are always great for a clean and simple card!

For today's sketch, I used the sun from the Let It Shine set and the sentiment from Feel the Sun, both from Verve Stamps. The paper is from the Garden Variety Cosmo Cricket Collection. They are all such, happy, fun patterned papers. . .perfect for a sunshine card! I also used my new Big Scalloped Rectangles to matte the polka dot paper. Finally, I added some faux stitching around the card and some Stardust Stickles to the sun.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you're having a Super Sweet Sunday! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Feel the Sun, Let It Shine (Verve Stamps); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine), Summer Sunrise (PTI); Paper- Prism Papers, Garden Variety Collection (Cosmo Cricket); Accessories- Big Scalloped Rectangles, Plain and Scallop Circles (Spellbinders), Stardust Stickles, Real Red grosgrain (SU), paper piercer; Finished card measures 4.25" square

Easter Blessings

I am really having fun with this Easter Blessings set from Our Craft Lounge. If you remember the first two cards I created using this set, I filled in the center oval with a flower of some sort. This time I put a sentiment there. I love how rustic this card turned out. I used the Curved Rectangle Nestabilities to create the card. I stamped the cross in Dark Brown chalk ink onto the Kraft cardstock. I sponged the card with Burnt Umber ink while it was still in the die. The sentiment is embossed in gold. When I was thinking about embellishments, I thought the jute would be a perfect touch. I wanted to add some brads, but I couldn't decide where to add them. Then I thought of the perfect placement for an Easter card!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you're having a great weekend! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Easter Blessings (Our Craft Lounge); Ink- Dark Brown chalk ink, Versamark; Paper- Kraft (PTI); Accessories- gold embossing powder, gold brads (Making Memories), Curved Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders), jute; Finished card measures 4"x3"

Viva la Kitty

Today I have a card for you using the latest Viva la Verve Challenge. This is for Week 4 and I used the adorable Hello Kitty inspiration photo for my card. The set is Easter Joy, one of the newest releases from Verve. I also used the Bountiful Backgrounds set for the polka dots. You can't really tell in the picture, but the centers of the flowers are colored with a Red Spica Glitter pen. I had to get that "touch of red" from Hello Kitty's bow in there! LOL Hope you'll play along with the challenge. . .they are a lot of fun and you can win some Verve goodness!

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a wonderful Friday! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Easter Joy, Bountiful Backgrounds (Verve Stamps); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Versamark; Paper- Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette (SU); Accessories- white embossing powder, black brads (Making Memories), ribbon (Darice), Red Spica Glitter pen; Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

You're a Great Catch

I don't know about you, but I am SO ready for summer! Spring will be nice, but Summer is my favorite. . .and I can't wait for it to be here!

The colors on this card just reminded me of summer, not to mention the image. :) I used the Tiny Treats Valentine set from Papertrey Ink. I didn't get this set for Valentine's Day because I kept thinking "oh I have lots of Valentine stamps." Then I kept seeing adorable creations in Blogland using this set, so I convinced myself that it didn't have to be JUST for Valentine's Day and I bought it! When I stamped the fish, I just didn't ink up the heart bubbles in front of the fish. I'm sure they would have looked fine on this card, but since I knew I wanted to use one of the Epoxy Dome Stickers, I wanted as much as possible to fit inside the dome. The paper is Polka Dot Parade, Aqua Mist and Lemon Tart. The ribbon is Spring Moss Twill. I colored the images using Copic markers.

Hope this card puts you in the mood for summer! Thanks for stopping by! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Tiny Treats Valentine (PTI); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Polka Dot Parade, Aqua Mist, Lemon Tart (PTI); Accessories- corner rounder, Epoxy Dome Sticker, Spring Moss Twill (PTI); Finished card measures 4.25" square

You're In My Prayers

It's been a while since I've participated in one of the Clean & Simple Stamping sketches. I just LOVE them, so it was nice to have the time this morning! This is Fall To Layout 82. I used the Prayers & Blessings set from Our Craft Lounge. The paper is from the Kitchen Spice Collection from Bo Bunny. I used an EK Success border punch for the edge of the matte. Instead of stamping a sentiment in the center of the cross, again I used a flower to fill the oval so that I could use the sentiment down below. As a finishing touch, I added a double line of paper piercings.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you're having a GREAT day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Prayers & Blessings (Our Craft Lounge); Ink- Burnt Umber (Palette), Fresh Snow (PTI); Paper- Kitchen Spice Collection (Bo Bunny), Prism Papers; Accessories- paper piercer, Prima flower, border punch (EK Success); Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

TE March Key Ingredients

This month, Taylor challenged the Baker's Dozen to create a card or project that includes texture inspired by the outdoors using this month's Key Ingredients. First of all, let me say that I LOVE this month's Key Ingredients. The patterns and colors of the papers are wonderful and made the "outdoors" theme easy!

I created one of Jodi's AWESOME card purses along with three cards to go in it. I created texture through embossing folders, templates, chipboard and jute. I continued the nature theme with the sentiments.

For my first card, I used a chipboard flower that I colored using acrylic paint daubers. I added a couple of pearls in the center of the flower. For the patterned paper, I added extra texture by using the Daisy Cluster Template and Lettuce acrylic paint dauber to create a flower theme. You can see the comparison between the original patterned paper and the patterned paper after the template and paint dauber. The sentiment is from the Favorite Peeps set.

For my second card, I thought the patterned paper looked like water. I used the Cosmic Swirl Template to add "wind" to the top portion of the card. I used a sentiment from the Faith & Hope stamp set.

My third card uses the butterflies that come in the Key Ingredients kit for texture as well as the Frills Cuttlebug folder. The sentiment is from the Discover Your Wings set.

The card purse uses a butterfly as well, along with another sentiment from the Faith & Hope set.

The monthly Key Ingredients kits are now exclusive to subscribers, so if you like this kit, you can subscribe today! I promise, you will LOVE these kits! It makes creating so easy! Everything coordinates and it's all put together for you in one place. . .and even in a nice storage box! Plus, you'll get inspiration every month from the Baker's Dozen! Be sure to stop and see what they've created using this month's kit!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Rejoice!

I have a card today using one of the newest sets from Our Craft Lounge as well as the latest OCL Design Team Sketch! The set is Prayers and Blessings. This set has sentiments for lots of religious occasions from wedding and communion, to Easter and Praying for You. The large cross image has a space in the center to fit any of the sentiments, but I chose to create one of these punch/button flowers for the center. I've been wanting to make one forever! I punched 4 scalloped circles out of Prism paper and the last scalloped circle was punched from yellow tissue paper. The patterned paper is from the Early Bird Collection from Cosmo Cricket.
Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful weekend! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Prayers and Blessings (Our Craft Lounge); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Crushed Curry (SU); Paper- Early Bird (Cosmo Cricket), Prism Papers; Accessories- Spring Moss ribbon, button (PTI), hemp; Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

For a finishing touch I added some faux stitching along the bottom of the card.

I don't know about you, but we've been enjoying some beautiful, sunny days here in Pittsburgh! Temps in the 40's and 50's, which is like t-shirt weather here! LOL It definitely has been a reminder that Spring is right around the corner. . .and I can't wait!

Sweet Sunday Spring

It's a BEAUTIFUL, sunny Sunday here in Pittsburgh and I was able to participate in two challenges today! That makes for a wonderful day all around! :)

I created this card using Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch and Nichole's color palette for her Spring Is in the Air Challenge. I used the Green Thumb stamp set from Papertrey Ink along with Melon Berry, Summer Sunrise, Lemon Tart, Polka Dot Parade and Spring Moss paper and ink. This was one of the first Papertrey sets I bought and I STILL love it! I stamped the flowers in Melon Berry, Summer Sunrise and Lemon Tart in, then added the stems and leaves in Spring Moss. I used the Martha Stewart Fringe scissors to cut the "grass" and added clear Dew Drops to the centers of the flowers. I added some faux stitching with a white gel pen for a finishing touch to this happy, Spring card!

Hope you're having a sunny day! Thanks for stopping by! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Green Thumb (PTI); Ink- Melon Berry, Lemon Tart, Spring Moss, Summer Sunrise (PTI), Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Melon Berry, Lemon Tart, Spring Moss, Summer Sunrise, Polka Dot Parade (PTI); Accessories- paper piercer, white gel pen, Lemon Tart ribbon (PTI), Dew Drops (The Robin's Nest), fringe scissors (Martha Stewart); Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"
