Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek Day 1

Did February fly by or what?  I can't believe tomorrow's March already!  With a new month, though, comes a new release at Taylored Expressions!  Today I have two new sets to share with you!  The first is the It's a Banner Day 2 set and coordinating die.  This set is the second in the It's a Banner Day Series concepted by Iwona Palamountain.  It was illustrated by Taylor for the TE Collection.  It is a set of 9 images (3 banners and 6 sentiments).  I decided to pair It's a Banner Day 2 with the Easter Blessings set.  I thought the banner would go well with the cross for an Easter card.  The papers are from the Restoration Collection by Crate Paper.

I stamped the cross in Ocean Depth VersaMagic onto Choice Buttercream cardstock and die cut it using the Take Note Die 2 die.  I added some Taylor's Tiny Twinkles to the little tabs.  I then stamped the banner from It's a Banner Day 2 in Bamboo Leaves onto Choice Buttercream and die cut it using the Banner Day 2 die.  I created the matte using the Take Note 3 die.  I die cut the scalloped border out of patterned paper using the Medium Scallop Border die.  Finally I added a little faux stitching and tied some ribbon on the card.

The second set I'm featuring today is the Spring Wreath set.  It coordinates with the Seasonal Wreath die and is the third set in the seasonal wreath series concepted by Jami and illustrated by Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical Wishes line.  It is a set of 7 images including 2 sentiments!  I used the new Spring Project Pantry for this card.

I stamped the wreath onto Choice Snow White cardstock and die cut it using the Seasonal Wreath die.  I colored the wreath and flower from the set using Copic markers.  I added some Stardust Stickles to give some texture and sparkle.  Finally I added a few sparkly brads from the Spring Project Pantry to the bottom right corner of the card.

These sets will be available for purchase on Thursday, March 3rd at 8am Pacific!  Be sure to visit the rest of the Baker's Dozen to see more eye candy using these sets as well as one more set that's being released on Thursday!

Wishing You Sunshine

Today I have a card for you using an old favorite Our Craft Lounge set of mine, Sunshine Cheer.  I used some fun Sweet Summertime papers from Echo Park.  The sun was paper pieced on some polka dot patterned paper.  The flower was stamped and then colored with Copic markers.

If you looked closely, you see that there is something very different for me on this card!  I actually REALLY sewed!  If you have been a long time visitor, you know that my favorite thing to do is faux sew on cards.  Well, I finally got a little craft sewing machine a while ago when I found one on sale.  I only JUST opened the box and decided to try it out.  As you can see, I'm terrible at sewing!  The stitching is all messy, but I thought it kind of looked neat anyway.  All I was trying for was a zig zag stitch around the focal piece but I kept having problems with the thread.  Hopefully you think the stitching looks kind of neat too!  :)  It definitely makes it unique because you couldn't get that stitching on purpose!  LOL  Oh well. . .maybe I should just stick to my faux sewing!  :)

If you missed it, 11 new sets have been released at Our Craft Lounge!  Visit HERE to see how you can win some new stamps!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great day!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Sunshine Cheer (OCL); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Sweet Summertime (Echo Park); Accessories- button, twine (PTI), Copic markers;  Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Papertrey February Blog Hop Challenge

Happy Friday!  Today is the monthly Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!  This month is dedicated to scallops. . .your best use of scallops.  I thought and thought about this.  I use scalloped borders across cards and along the edges of cards, but I was trying to come up with something a little different.  Then it hit me!  I decided to dig out an old Click Simple template, Rock-a-Bye Baby and use the Onesie card!  I thought scallops would make an ADORABLE little "ruffled bottom" for the onesie!  LOL  Don't you just LOVE when little babies are dressed in those adorable little fancy pants that just peek out from under their dress?  I know I do!  I used to put them on my girls all the time.  :)

I used the Baby Button Bits set to add a little bug to the front of the onesie.  I added some glitter to the bug's wings and to the edges of the scallops.  The scallops were die cut with the Large Scalloped Border die and for the sleeves I used the Rickrack Border die.  I tied some Sweet Blush ribbon around the onesie and added the sentiment!

I can't wait to see what other blog participants have created using scallops!  Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful weekend!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Baby Button Bits (PTI); Ink- Berry Sorbet (PTI), Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Sweet Blush, Stamper's Select White (PTI); Accessories- Large Scalloped Border die, Rickrack Border die, buttons, ribbon, Rock a Bye Baby Click Simple Template (PTI), glitter;

TE Blast From the Past Blog Hop

It's time again for the Blast From the Past Blog Hop at Taylored Expressions!  I really like this hop because it forces me to look back at my TE stamps that I haven't inked up in a while and use them!  This month, the theme was Going Green!  You could have taken that literally, or you could have used something on your card that was recycled.  I took it literally.

I used the Garden Party Blooms set for my card.  The flower and stem were stamped and then die cut using the Garden Party Blooms Die Set 1.  I added some Taylor's Tiny Twinkles to the flower too.  The sun was stamped and die cut using the Garden Party Blooms Die Set 2.  The focal piece background was embossed using the Scallops and Circles Impression Plate.  The papers are all from the So Sophie Savvy Collection from My Mind's Eye.  I also used the sweet Sankari's sketch for my card!

Be sure to hop through and see all of this month's Going Green creations!  I know I can' wait!  Thanks for stopping by today!

HB Photo Inspiration

I was able to play along with the OCL Photo Inspiration Challenge this week.  I used the Tweet Thang set from Our Craft Lounge for my card.  The bird ended up being a little "dull" with the colors, so I added some Stardust Stickles to its breast to add a little more spark.  The grass was cut using the Martha Stewart Fringe scissors.  Did you know you can win some Our Craft Lounge stamps by playing along with the challenges?  Follow the link above to find all the details!

ABC. . .Easy as 123

Yes, the card I have today was inspired by a little Jackson 5 that happened to be on the radio!  It's actually for this week's Make It Monday Challenge, Glitter Strips With ScorTape at Papertrey Ink.    I don't know how well you can see in the photo, but the Lemon Tart cardstock was embossed using the Book Print Impression Plate to get the "ABC".  The Aqua Mist cardstock was embossing using the By the Numbers Impression Plate to get the "123".  I cut the banner using the Basic Banners Die and the Banner Borders Die.  My husband actually thought it was a piece of pie and got an "easy as pie" meaning from the card.  LOL  That works!

I cut the numbers out of white cardstock using the By the Numbers Dies.  The sentiment is from the Handwritten Notes set and is stamped on Lemon Tart cardstock that was die cut using the Just the Ticket Border Die.  For the glitter, I put down each strip of ScorTape and peeled them up one at a time adding the different colors of glitter.  The final touches were the button and the Lemon Tart ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today!  School is closed today due to snow, so we'll be staying warm and cuddly indoors.  Hope you're warm wherever you are!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Handwritten Notes (PTI); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Aqua Mist, Melon Berry, Spring Moss, Lemon Tart (PTI); Accessories- By the Numbers Dies, By the Numbers Impression Plate, Book Print Impression Plate, Basic Banners Die, Banner Borders Die, Just the Ticket Border Die, Lemon Tart ribbon (PTI), ScorTape, button, glitter;  Finished card measures 4.25"x5.5"

Birthday Fishes

I was able to play along with Heather's Totally Hues Color Challenge this weekend.  The challenge this week was to use Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides, Raspberry Fizz and Dark Chocolate or their equivalents.  I decided to use my fish from the Birthday Buddies stamp set from Paper Smooches.  I created the waves using Aqua Mist and Ocean Tides cardstock along with the Catch a Wave Die-namics from My Favorite Things.

The fish was stamped in Burnt Umber ink, colored with Copic markers, cut out and mounted onto the card with foam dimensional adhesive.  I added some Stardust Stickles to the scales too.  The sentiment was stamped in Fresh Snow ink on the Raspberry Fizz cardstock.  Finally I added a little stitching.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope your week is off to a great start!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Birthday Buddies (Paper Smooches); Ink- Burnt Umber (Palette), Fresh Snow (PTI); Paper- Ocean Tides, Aqua Mist, Raspberry Fizz, Dark Chocolate (PTI); Accessories- Catch a Wave Die-namics (MFT), Copic markers, Stardust Stickles;  Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Happy Birthday!

Today I have an adorable little treat box to show you.  I downloaded this from the Silhouette store for my Silhouette SD.  I cut the box out of red cardstock, the "icing" out of white and the "wrapper" out of pink.  The pink cardstock was also embossed using the Hearts Impression Plate from Taylored Expressions.  For the "icing", I added some glue dots and just poured glitter over them to give some sparkly polka dots.

The top of the box is a heart. . .it goes PERFECTLY with the Cozy Cottages set from Taylored Expressions!  I put some filler in the box and tied it with some Baker's Twine.  I used the It's a Banner Day 1 stamp set and coordinating die to add the sentiment.  NOTE:  I did "bend" the sentiment in the opposite direction so that it would fit when I used the banner upside down.

I think this would make a SUPER cute little birthday gift. . .or any occasion really!!

Don't forget that the Blast From the Past Blog Hop is coming up!  The deadline to sign up is tomorrow, Monday, February 21st!  You can follow the link above for more details on how to sign up!  Thanks for stopping by today!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- It's a Banner Day 1 (TE); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Pure Poppy (PTI); Paper- Choice Snow White, red, pink (TE); Accessories- Hearts Impression Plate, It's a Banner Day 1 Die, Baker's Twine (TE), Cupcake Box (Silhouette), glue dots, glitter;

Make It Monday - Vellum Sentiment Strip

Hello and Happy Saturday!  Today I have a card that I created for the Make It Monday Vellum Sentiment Strip Challenge at Papertrey Ink.  I used a sentiment from the Spiral Bouquet set along with paper from the Beautiful Blooms pad.

For the vellum panel, I scored the space where the sentiment would go first.  Then, I scored the criss-cross pattern on either side of the sentiment panel.  The large flower was created using the Bloom Builders #2 Collection.  I added a little strip that was die cut using the Edgers #1 Collection to the left side of the card.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Spiral Bouquet (PTI); Ink- Pure Poppy (PTI), Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Hawaiian Shores, Beautiful Blooms, Pure Poppy (PTI); Accessories- circle punch, glitter (SU), brad (Darice), Edgers #1 Collection, Bloom Builders #2 Collection, ribbon (PTI);  Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Monster Love

As you've probably already heard me say, I just LOVE the new sets that Kim Hughes released this month!  Have you seen the Paper Smooches stamps?  SO cute!  I especially love this monster image.  So much, in fact, that I had to make him a girlfriend!  :)  In order to reverse the image, I had to ink up the monster and then I carefully rolled my brayer over the stamp and then rolled it onto the paper.  Not the best option for doing this sort of thing, but the only option I had available.  It worked, so that's all that matters, right?

I added some eyelashes with a marker and colored some pink cheeks to make her look more "girly".  The images were colored using Copic markers.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful weekend!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Falling For You (Paper Smooches); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine), Berry Sorbet (PTI); Paper- white (Georgia-Pacific), Sweet Blush (PTI); Accessories- Copic markers, Zig Zag border punch (EK Success), ribbon (Darice), brayer;  Finished card measures 4.25" square
