Prettie Wednesday

Two weeks ago, Jana challenged us with a sketch. I combined her sketch with Carole's Dirty Dare Challenge to use Real Red, Yo Yo Yellow and Brilliant Blue. I used the little flower from the Rainy Day Friends set from Paper Pretties. This card is on its way to Joni.

Since Paper Pretties is releasing 4 stamp sets this Friday, August 1st at 8pm EST, I made another card using this sketch with one of the new sets. This set is called Bugs and Fishes and features Wade E. Bug, super snorkeler! LOL The set is just adorable, and you know how I feel about ladybugs! :) You can check the other Prettie Girl blogs to see sneak peeks using the new sets. We hope you'll join us on Friday for the Prettie Pajama Party! I have 3 challenges for you to play along with, and you can chat and win prizes too! Sound like fun? Hope to see you there on Friday at 8pm EST! If you were planning on entering the Cutie Pie Contest, you have until tomorrow (July 31) at 9pm EST to submit your entries to Christie at Christie@paperpretties.net. The winner will win ALL of the sets being released on Friday! Best of luck! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Rainy Day Friends, Bugs and Fishes (Paper Pretties); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss (SU); Paper- Basic Black, Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss (SU), white (Georgia-Pacific), yellow, red, blue (DCWV); Accessories- Copic markers, small and large oval punches, paper piercer, black marker, circle punches, Bubble Maker (Creative Memories), Real Red wide grosgrain (SU), striped ribbon (May Arts); Finished cards measure 4.25"x5.5"

Let's Make Cupcakes

This card is for two challenges, both by Taylor! It's for Taylor's Friday Cupcake Sketch Challenge, and for her Dirty Dare Cupcake Challenge. I used the What's Up, Cupcake set from My Favorite Things that Michelle of Stamper's Dream sent me, and the Lined Paper Backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms. When I saw the sketch, the tilted panel made me think of a piece of paper (or list) that got stuck to the card. So, I used the Lined Paper Backgrounder and made a shopping list for the cupcakes.

On another note, I've been asked to include the dimensions of my finished card in my card recipes. I will try to remember to do that from now on. For past cards, most of my cards are the standard 4.25"X5.5". If it's a square card, it's always 4.25" square since that still fits in a standard envelope. Sometimes I'll create 3"x6" cards, but they're usually in response to a challenge asking for that specific size. Hopefully that information will clear up any questions on cards I've posted before today. Thanks for stopping by and as always, I hope you're having a wonderful day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- What's Up, Cupcake? (MFT), Lined Paper Backgrounder (Cornish Heritage Farms); Paper- Pacific Point (SU), patterned and pink (DCWV); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Soft Sky (SU); Accessories- Copic markers, Sakura glitter pen, polka dot organdy ribbon (May Arts) Finished card: 4.25"x5.5"

Dirty White Card

This card was for JulieHRR's Dirty Dare Challenge. . .to make a clean and simple white-based card. I think this might be as simple as you can get. . .well, okay, maybe minus the ribbon treatment on the side! :) This uses the Petals and Stems set from Verve Stamps. I used the Threading Water border punch along the bottom to make the card a little more "dainty". Hope you like it!

The Dirty Dare Challenges have come to an end and I'm happy to report that I completed them all! (I can't believe it either!) I used to be a Splitcoast Challenge Junkie! LOL I did the challenges just about everyday, but I haven't been able to get to them lately. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to the challenges on a regular basis. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day! SUPPLIES USED: Petals and Stems (Verve Stamps); Paper- white (Georgia-Pacific), Certainly Celery (SU); Ink- Burnt Umber (Palette), Pumpkin Pie, Certainly Celery (SU), Summer Sunrise (Papertrey Ink); Accessories- Threading Water border punch (Fiskars), circle punch, horizontal slot punch, Celery wide grosgrain (SU)

More Birthday Mail!

Here are a few more birthday cards and treats that I received.

This first one is from Melissa at Simply Pink. Melissa is such a sweetheart and actually has a birthday the day before mine! I just LOVE this card. Look at that perfect bow! Thank you so much for thinking of me, Melissa!

The second card is from Libby of Libby's Little Addiction. How cute are those ladybugs? I just LOVED them when I opened the card. As if they weren't cute enough, did you notice those adorable little stick pins on there? So, so cute! Thank you, Libby, for such an adorable card. You're so thoughtful!

The last card and treat is from Donna of Serenity in Stamping. Look at that adorable box and card! I LOVE all that glitter! The treats inside the box are awesome! I already have plans for some of them! :) Thank you, Donna! I just LOVE my birthday package. You're the best!

Got Vellum?

This is for Laurie's Dirty Dare Challenge from Monday. . .to use vellum. I stamped the image from the Damask stamp set and the sentiment from Verve Stamps on white cardstock. Then I ran a piece of vellum through my Cuttlebug in the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I attached the Swiss Dot embossed vellum over the white cardstock. This was a pretty quick and simple card as far as stamping goes.

On another note, I hope you'll join us for the Prettie Pajama Party in the Paper Pretties forums this Friday, August 1st beginning at 8pm EST. I have some challenges for you and there will be lots of fun chatter and prizes! Also, if you want to be the next Cutie Pie, make sure you make a card using your Paper Pretties stamps and send it to Christie at http://us.mc331.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=christie@paperpretties.net, and she will choose a winner from the entries. Besides getting to call yourself a Cutie Pie, you will also get all the stamps from this release for free! You have until July 31st at 9pmEST to get your entries in! Best of luck! Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Psalm 37:4 (Verve Stamps), Damask (Inkadinkado); Paper- DCWV, vellum, white (Georgia-Pacific); Ink- Sweet Blush (Papertrey Ink), Onyx Black (Versafine); Accessories- rose organdy ribbon, pearl brads (Darice), Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder

And Winner #2 Is. . .

Jocelyn who said...
This set looks adorable! I wanna win please, please, pretty please!!! :D Thanks for the chance to win! :D

Congratulations, Jocelyn! Please send me your mailing address and I'll get this stamp set out to you!

Dirty Inspiration

This card was for Jenn's Dirty Dare Inspiration piece. What a fun inspiration piece she posted! I started with Basic Black cardstock and used the Damask set from Inkadinkado and stamped in Whisper White Craft ink all over the background. On the scalloped oval, I stamped the sentiment from Thougtful Messages by Hero Arts in Whisper White Craft ink and one damask image in Versamark ink and clear embossed them both. The May Arts ribbon, along with the SU scallop punch and faux stitching were the finishing touches. You can find the sentiment set and May Arts ribbon at Stamper's Dream. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

July Blog Hop

Tonight's the July Blog Hop at Papertrey Ink! You can find the thread in the forums where everyone will post links to their creations with this month's challenge. . .to use vellum.

I chose to use vellum as an overlay for a black and white photo. My husband and I just celebrated our 8 year anniversary, so this card is for him. Maybe the pearl brads were a little too "un-masculine", but I tried to keep the rest of the card "un-frilly". I think he'll like it though! I can't wait to see everyone's vellum creations this month! Head on over to the Blog Hop and join in the fun. It starts at 8pm EST! See you later! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Out on a Limb Sentiments (Papertrey Ink); Ink- Red Riding Hood (SU), Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Red Riding Hood, Basic Black (SU), vellum; Accessories- pearl brads (Darice), paper piercer, black pen

Prettie Wednesday

Two weeks ago, I challenged the Prettie Girls to create a card using only ONE type of embellishment. You could use as many of that one type as you wanted, but ONLY one type. I kept wanting to add ribbon to this card, but I couldn't because I already added the Dew Drops. This challenge was harder than I thought! :) I can't wait to see what the other girls came up with! This card is on its way to Danielle. Hope she likes it!

How would you like to be Paper Pretties Cutie Pie? All you have to do is make a card using your Paper Pretties stamps and send it to Christie at christie@paperpretties.net, and she will choose a winner from the entries. Besides getting to call yourself a Cutie Pie, you will also get all the stamps from this release (coming up on August 1st) for free! You have until July 31st at 8pmCST to get your entries in! Best of luck!

Verve Project Parade

How about a chance to win $15 in Verve Bucks to spend in the Verve Store? If you haven't made it over to the Verve Blog lately, stop in and check out THIS POST to find out how to win. The challenge this month is to make ATCs or Artist Trading Cards. This is the first time I've made one, so this challenge was definitely a challenge for me. I really like the idea of them, though. I can use little bits and pieces from my scrap bin even! Then you can add the completed ATC onto a card front. How cool is that? Easy, huh? I will definitely be making more of these! So head on over and get your creative juices flowing! Thanks for stopping by! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Thankful Blossoms, Here For You (Verve Stamps); Paper- Wild Wasabi, Regal Rose, Basic Black (SU), white (Georgia-Pacific); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Accessories- Martha Stewart border punch, paper piercer, rhinestone brads, Scor-Pal, 1" circle punch (SU), grosgrain ribbon, Copic markers.

Just Rite

I just recently got a Just Rite Monogram Stamper and here's a simple card I made with it. Since I wanted the border a different color, I stamped the images separately. When I stamped the border, I used a marker to color the stamp. If I wanted it all black, it would have been SUPER simple. I had to "dress up" my last initial, though. Perhaps the "I" would be more exciting to me in a different font, but I put a crystal in the middle of the "I". . .can you see it? I thought it added that extra little something that it was missing. This is the first time I've used the Just Rite Stamper and I really like it! It really is easy to use and is perfect if you do a lot of monogram stamping. There is a kit that has "From the Kitchen of", "From the Desk of" borders that would be so quick and simple if you lend books or give homemade gifts of food. You can find some of these sets at Stamper's Dream. Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- JustRite Monogram Stamper (JustRite); Paper- Basic Black (SU), red (DCWV), white (Georgia-Pacific); Accessories- crystal, Ruby Red marker, red grosgrain, Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder

FS76 Susiestampalot

This is for today's Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS, to CASE Susiestampalot. I just LOVE Susan's work. You can find more of it on her blog of the same name! She has SO MANY gorgeous creations in her gallery, it was hard to choose one to CASE. I finally decided on this adorable card. I changed the stamps and colors for my card. I just LOVE the clean and simple design! Congratulations on being chosen for Featured Stamper, Susan! You are an amazing stamper! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Flutter By (Paper Pretties); Paper- Nana's Nursery Stack (DCWV), Certainly Celery (SU), white (Georgia-Pacific); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Accessories- Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Apricot Apeal markers (SU); Copic markers, paper piercer, horizontal slot punch, polka dot grosgrain (Darice)

Oodagoodies!!

I know it has been LONG overdue, but I was organizing my craft space and realized that I never gave this away! A while ago, I won Melanie's complete Hippy Hoppy Collection on GinaK's blog. I already had two of the sets, so guess who benefits from that? YOU! That's right! Just leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing you've done this summer. You have until Wednesday, July 23 at 10am EST. I'll select a random winner and post the winner shortly after. Good luck and thanks for visiting!

Tags

I was tagged by Barbara Jean Smith of My Pink Pajamas. . .Late Night Stampin' and Scrappin'. Thanks for the tag, Barbara! Here are my 7 random facts:

1. I am the oldest of 6 children. . .my parents were each one of 10 children, so I come from a very large family!
2. Charmaine is actually my middle name. Patricia, which is my first name is a family name and my mother didn't think Charmaine Patricia sounded right. . .so I've always been called Charmaine.
3. My nickname, given to me by my grandma before I was born, is Charlie.
4. When I was little I dreamed of being a ballerina. Everything started off so well with dance lessons and performances and then I turned 16 and developed breasts and hips. . .so musical theater was the next best thing! :)
5. I did not get married until I was 29.
6. When a friend approached me the first time about stamping, my response was "oh no, not me. I don't do crafts!" Now she is my upline! LOL
7. When I drive in the car, I rarely EVER listen to music or the radio. I think it's because it's the only peace and quiet I get in a day!

The second tag I received, I received 5 times over! WOW! I was tagged by Amy, Tina, Tonniece, Maria and Pauline. Thanks, girls! I really appreciate that! I have no idea who has already received this award or not, so I'll just pick 7 of my favorite blogs!

Picture Pot

I made this to submit to the Gueststar Stamper Contest at Papertrey Ink this month. I was lucky enough to receive an Honorable Mention for it! How cool is that? I was so excited! I have a few "picture holders" at home, so I thought it would be neat to make one myself, but make it like a bouquet of flowers you'd send to someone. As Nichole stated, it would be perfect for someone in the hospital. . .they wouldn't have to water it, but could see the flowers with familiar faces everytime they looked at it. You could change the "greeting card" to match the occasion. I made this particular one just to showcase some favorite pictures of friends or family and used the sentiment "If friends were flowers, I'd pick you." This would be perfect with a "We're Thinking of You" sentiment too, packed full of photos of family and friends. I'll definitely be making more of these! Thanks for stopping by today. Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Green Thumb, Beautiful Blooms (Papertrey Ink); Ink- Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise, Lavender Moon, Burnt Umber; Accessories- floral wire, Excelsior, Swiss Dots ribbon (Papertrey Ink).

Prettie Wednesday

Two weeks ago, Julie challenged us to make Trash a Treasure. I thought long and hard about what to use because if something is trash, I usually throw it away immediately because as you can imagine, things accumulate quickly when you have small children so I have to keep a close watch on clutter! LOL I came across this button. The shank had broken and the center fell out. I must have set it aside to glue or do something with, but forgot about it. I thought it would work for the challenge. I took all of the color from the button. This is off to Christie! I used Danielle's Sketch Challenge from the weekly challenges at Paper Pretties. Every week Danielle comes up with a great challenge. . .stop by and check them out! Have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Wade E. Bug's Love (Paper Pretties), Inque Boutique Lil' Stamp; Paper- Certainly Celery (SU), Nana's Nursery Stack (DCWV), white (Georgia-Pacific); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Accessories- Copic markers, paper piercer, Certainly Celery grosgrain, Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Stardust Stickles

FTL#5 Happy Birthday

I made this card using the Fall To Layout #5 from Clean and Simple Stamping. I love doing these sketches because they are pretty quick since they're clean and simple. I used this Cat Tails Rubber stamp from Paper Inspirations. Since the focal piece ended up being so skinny because of the image, I "filled it out" by paper piercing a box around it and adding my embellishments within the box. The sentiment is from the Happy Greetings set by Hero Arts. You can find all stamps at Stamper's Dream. Michelle has added lots of new stuff to the store too, so you might want to check it out! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Cat Tails (Paper Inspirations), Happy Greetings (Hero Arts); Paper- white (Georgia-Pacific), Chocolate Chip, So Saffron (SU), orange (DCWV); Ink- Burnt Umber (Palette); Accessories- Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, More Mustard markers (SU), Sunflower Dew Drops (The Robin's Nest), paper piercer.

We're Back!

We made it back safe and sound from our vacation! We had an incredible time. I just wanted to check in and let you all know that it may take me a while to sort through emails and such, but I haven't been ignoring you. . .I promise! :) I appreciate all of the comments I've received, birthday wishes and even the tags. If I didn't acknowledge your tag, it's only because I've been away. I'm hoping to sneak in some stamping time this weekend (maybe today?), but in the meantime, I thought I'd share a picture with you from our vacation. We visited many places while in Cape Cod, but this particular picture was taken in Chatham. As you can see from the picture, Isaac was exhausted from all of the traveling! LOL The girls LOVED the beaches and just enjoyed the whole vacation. I'll share more pictures soon! Thanks for stopping by!

Off to School

Another one of the challenges I issued for the Prettie Pajama Party was to make a 6x6 scrapbook page. I love making 6x6 pages because they go so fast. This picture was only taken 9 months ago when Savannah started preschool, but it seems like she's been in school for years! LOL I thought the picture would pair up well with Off to School Sophia from Paper Pretties.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you are having a wonderful day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Off to School Sophia (Paper Pretties); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- DCWV and Oriental Trading; Accessories- slit punch, duo satin ribbon (May Arts), key tag punch, paper piercer, SU markers
