Prettie Wednesday

Two weeks ago, Danielle challenged us to make a masculine card. Here is what I came up with. I only used part of the sentiment. The full sentiment reads "You're never too told to jump in puddles." I just used the "You're never too old" part and thought that maybe on the inside could be written "to learn new tricks". Maybe Christie will have an accessories set made for this! LOL Since the set is called Rainy Day Friends and the dog is really only an accessory within the set, I'm sure the "to learn new tricks" wouldn't be practical. Be Inspired #12

Time for another Be Inspired Challenge from Beate! This one ended up being very different for me. I usually try to find stamps that mimic the inspiration piece. For this one, I started thinking about a set that has a table and chairs. . .then I thought "let's try something different." So, I just went with the colors to start. I used Really Rust, More Mustard and Old Olive. For the stamp, I decided to use a set I just got. I stamped the image on vellum in Old Olive ink and then sponged the back of the vellum with More Mustard and Old Olive, and I colored parts of the flowers with a Really Rust marker. I ran the piece of vellum through my Xyron and then attached it to a piece of white cardstock. I stamped the butterfly from the set twice with Craft Whisper White ink. For the card base, I stamped the focal image in Really Rust on the Really Rust cardstock. The sentiment is mounted on a label made with the Double Ended Tags die from Spellbinders. I'm glad I decided to branch out a bit and not take the inspiration so literally! Bug Me

Here is a simple card I made with the ladybug stamp that Jami and Pam sent to me. Isn't the ladybug couple CUTE? I used the sentiment from Very Punny. I love making very simple cards like this because they go fast and you've got either a card set for someone or some quick cards for yourself! Thanks again Jami and Pam for the package! I just LOVE my stamps!

Destined for Greatness

I actually got to do a Super Sketch Sunday on a Sunday! I'll tell ya, Amy is REALLY exercising my patterned paper skills! It's funny, but when I first started this blog, I rarely used patterned papers. Through doing challenges on Splitcoast and challenges from fellow bloggers, I began to use patterned papers more and more. Now I rarely make a card without patterned paper! Having said that, I usually only use one, maybe two patterned papers on a card. Amy's challenge this week was to use FOUR patterned papers. Yes, FOUR! She said the blocking didn't have to be exactly the same since she just used scraps and cut them to fit. I used scraps too and cut them to fit and it actually worked to be the same blocking pattern. . . .I just flipped the sketch. I love using up scraps. . .I have tons of them! The patterned paper is all from the Urban Window Collection by We R Memory Keepers. The star piercings were made using the Punches Plus Classy Brass Template from Stampin' Up! Life

Today I woke up (LATE, uh) to a rainy, dreary day and no energy to do anything. . .especially stamp. Well, I shouldn't say "energy", but motivation. I just couldn't collect my thoughts and be creative, so I started to do my blog reading that I seldom have time to do anymore. I was reading Lauren's post today (the whole thing, Lauren!) and it really pumped me up and gave me this burst of energy and motivation that I so needed! Beate Weekend Sketch #46

Here is my card for Beate's latest Weekend Sketch Challenge. I was inspired by my sweet friend Joanne and her What You Got Challenge to use Bali Breeze Designer Paper and a Stampin' Up stamp set that hasn't seen ink in a while. When I first saw Garden Whimsy in the catalog, it was love at first sight. I HAD to have it. When I first got it, I used it on EVERYTHING. I just couldn't get enough. Then, new stamps came out and Garden Whimsy was put on the shelf and forgotten about. . .until now! I stamped the butterfly in Pumpkin Pie ink on the Bali Breeze Designer paper, then on vellum. I cut the vellum butterfly out and folded back the wings and mounted it on top of the first butterfly I stamped. I wanted to put some glitter on the wings, so I put a few dots of glue on different spots, but apparently the ink wasn't completely dry, so the glitter stuck to the WHOLE butterfly. I decided it was a fortunate accident because I LOVE the sparkly butterfly. Make sure you check out what Beate, Cambria, Jenn, Laurie, Lori, MaryJo and

Color Inspiration

Here is a quick and simple card I made for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge. I've been meaning to give one of them a try for a while, but never got to it! I just LOVED the colors and had to make time for this one. The flowers are from Michael's Wedding section. The stamp set is Full of Life from Stampin' Up! The paper is Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip and patterned paper from the Luxury Stack by Die Cut With a View. It all came together for a quick and simple card. Thanks for stopping by!

Off to School

Isn't she CUTE? This is an upcoming release over at Paper Pretties. . .Off To School Sophia. She is part of the "news" over at Paper Pretties. If you haven't checked it out, you can read all of the details here. I used Amy's Super Sketch Sunday sketch for this card. Amy's only other stipulation is that you use 3 different patterned papers.
