In Color Challenge

This is for today's Color Challenge on SCS. It's the first color challenge using the new Stampin' Up In Colors. This challenge called for Soft Sky, Blue Bayou and Cameo Coral. I didn't have Cameo Coral, so I substituted the In Color Groovy Guava! I haven't used my Silly Sealife set in a little while, so I thought I'd ink up the whale. The sentiment is by Verve Visual. This card came together very quickly, which is always a nice thing!

2-5-7-10 Box

I just LOVE papercrafted boxes. They are always so cute! When last week's tutorial came out at Splitcoaststampers for the 2-5-7-10 Box, I HAD to make it! I finally got the chance. It really is simple too! Just cutting and folding! For this box I used my MissyB Designs set, You're Bugging Me. I just LOVE this set. I used the butterfly for the background of the box too. . .it makes it look all swirly and whimsical. The butterfly is colored in Regal Rose with a blender pen, then I added some sparkles with my Sakura Stardust pen. I watercolored Bordering Blue around the butterfly and added some "bling" for the final touch. Thanks for stopping by today. Hope your week is off to a great start! Beate Weekend Sketch #13

This is for Beate's Weekend Sketch #13. Again, another fun and wonderful sketch by Beate! I tried to make this quick since I didn't have too much time to stamp today. I'm not completely happy with the focal butterfly. It has two layers of wings made from vellum, but it didn't end up looking how I thought it would look. It DOES look better in real life though! :) I used my new sentiments from Verve Visual. If you haven't heard of Verve Visual yet, it's Julee Tilman's newest endeavor! Happy Mail

I have had some gorgeous RAKs that I've received recently that I have been VERY LATE in posting. Actually, they were hidden under my pile of stuff while I was doing the Dirty Dare Challenges, and when I cleaned it all up, there they were!

The first is from Julee Tilman at Poetic Artistry. I couldn't believe when I opened this card! It is just gorgeous! If you could see in real life, the Cuttlebugging, the faux stitching and just the paper. . .WOW! Thank you so much Julee! I just LOVE this card!

The second card is from Dottie Kinnear. Dottie won my last Oodagoodies and sent me this card as a thank you. How very sweet of her! I just LOVE that polka dotted paper and the colors are just wonderful! Thank you so much, Dottie, for making me smile!

The last card is from Kristine Breach at Ink Something! Kristine said she made a bunch of these cards being inspired by her Mary Engelbreit apron. I am just thrilled that I was the lucky recipient of one of them! Isn't this just the cutest? I don't own any Mary Engelbreit stuff, but I've seen it, and it really does look just like it! Thanks, Kristine for thinking of me. . .I really appreciate it!

Scrapbook in a Box

I made this for my husband's niece from when we spent a day with her and her girls at Idlewild Park. If you're wondering why I don't call her MY niece, it's because she's about the same age as me and it feels weird! LOL She's more like a sister-in-law, I guess. We laugh about it all the time. Anyway, I wanted to make her a scrapbook remembering the day and I wanted it to be different, and I found some of these in the gallery at Splitcoast and thought it would be perfect. She and her girls LOVED it! I was so happy! She loved it so much that she asked me to come show her how to make one. We had a blast. I can't wait to see HER finished product. . .she didn't have the pictures yet, so I can't wait to see what all she puts in it! Sensational Sentiments

This was for today's Limited Supplies Challenge on SCS, Sensational Sentiments. . .to make your background out of sentiments and use NO patterned paper. I never would have thought I'd really have to think about this challenge. I NEVER used to use patterned paper. I always bought it, but didn't know what to do with it! :) So, I made a point to start using it more and more and now it seems I can't do a card without patterned paper! LOL I actually had to re-do the awning part of this card because I made it out of patterned paper. . .oops! It is nice to get back to working with plain cardstock and making my own pattern, though. Hope you don't mind that Regal Rose and Certainly Celery color combo again! I keep going to my scrap bin instead of cutting new paper and it seems there's lots of these colors in there! :) Have a wonderful start to your weekend! Yvette's Dirty Dare

This is the last Dirty Dare Challenge I was able to do. This was for Yvette's Dirty Dare Challenge, to make a tag card using ONLY ONE stamp set. This is my first tag card. I've seen lots of cards lately making ladybugs out of the Pick a Petal set, so I thought I'd use that as my stamp set. I just LOVE the look of these ladybugs! They are just so stinkin' cute, and they look good in every color I've seen them in! Since the challenge was to use only one stamp set, I used the "smile" part of the one petal as my "sentiment". The flowers are stamped on Whisper White, cut out, run through the Xyron upside down (to make the front sticky) and then dunked in glitter. The backgrounds on all the panels are stamps from the Pick a Petal set. Hope you've been following and enjoyed the Dirty Dare Challenges. They have been A LOT of fun! JulieHRR Dirty Dare

This was for JulieHRR's Dirty Dare Challenge yesterday to make a no layer card. It's funny, but sometimes I have trouble with no layer cards because I always think they NEED something else! This card didn't quite turn out how I envisioned. I inked the butterfly up with Regal Rose ink, then used an Old Olive marker to color spots of the wings, but it turned out really muddy looking. That's how the Stickles got added. I'm still not crazy about the green parts of the butterfly, but it's better than it was! At least it's sparkly! :) Thanks for stopping by today! Bashful Cocoa

This was for today's Color Challenge on SCS, Bashful Cocoa, to use Bashful Blue, Close to Cocoa and Certainly Celery. I decided to use a couple of texture plates today since I don't really use them much. For the card base, I used the Fiskars Waves texture plate, and for the Close to Cocoa piece of cardstock, I used the Sizzix Texturz Wacky Sparkles plate. I sanded both of them to try and bring out more of the embossing. The image and sentiment stamps are both by A Muse. Just a fun, simple card. I was happy I got to stamp today since I've been too busy to keep up with the challenges. I can't complain, though, because we've been a GOOD kind of busy. :) Lots of fun summer outings and time spent with family and friends. Have a great day! Jenn's Dirty Dare Challenge

This was for Jenn Balcer's Dirty Dare Challenge on Saturday, to make a card using a cheerful color combination. The more I'm challenged to use the Bold Bright color family, the more I like them. I know I say this every time I use orange, but I NEVER use Only Orange. My oranges are in the Earth Elements family. More muted. Every time I see a bold, bright card that someone made, I LOVE it. I just don't know why I stay away from the Bold Brights. Anyway, this layout was just very simple. I used my Cuttlebug Swirls folder on the base of the card and added some paper piercing on the green layer. The sentiment is by A Muse. Thanks for stopping by!
