Birthday Treat

I was playing around with products from the newest release at Taylored Expressions and I came up with a cute idea for little birthday favors!  :)  I started with the "birthday treat" image from the Classroom Cuties set.   I stamped the image and colored it with Copic markers, then punched it out with a circle punch.

I used papers from the Sweet Girl Collection from Echo Park.  I die cut the topper base using the Scalloped Notecard Die.  I cut the patterned paper to fit the folded notecard, tied some ribbon and then added the stamped image on top.  Next, I filled a little cello bag with some filler and little nail polishes.  I found these nail polishes that came as a four pack in the dollar bin!  As most of you know, my kids have food allergies, so I try whenever possible to use something other than food/candy as a treat.  These little nail polishes were the perfect thing!  After I filled the bag, I folded it over and stapled the top.  I put some Sticky Tape along the bottom inside edges of the notecard and closed the bag in between it.  Perfect little treat, all ready to go!!

For the little banner that is on the cake. . .I thought that would be the perfect place to write the names of the little girls they were for.  Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great day!!

Mojo Live the Life

I am a week behind in my cardmaking!  I meant to post this this past weekend, but between getting back from vacation and kid activities, I never did it!  So, here is my card using the Mojo Monday Sketch from last week!  :)

I used the Words of Wisdom set from Verve as well as the leaves from the Dream Big set.  As I'm linking to these, I see that both sets are temporarily out of stock!  :(  I am just striking out with this post, aren't I?  lol  There are LOTS of other wonderful Verve sentiments that will work in the same spot in the sketch, right?  :)  The papers I used are from the Harvest Lane Collection from Simple Stories.

I used a piece of ribbon for the "banner" image in the sketch.  On top, I added a Prima flower with a red pearl used the Dreamy Leaves Die to die cut the leaves for the flower.  After putting the card together, I felt like it needed a little something on the right to balance the leaves.  I added a die cut yellow piece using the Flag It Die Set.  That is a GREAT set to add that "little" something here or there when you need it!  For the piece behind the sentiment panel, I used the Classy Label Die.   The circle and scallop circle were die cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I'm hoping to get busy on THIS week's Mojo Monday Sketch now!  Wish me luck!  ;)

Taylored Expressions August Studio Challenge

It's time for the Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge.  This is a monthly opportunity for the Taylored Expressions team to share what makes our stamping studios hum.  Each month we  have a fun, crafty question or theme so we can share our favorites, some tips and tricks, stamping advice and more.

The question for August is:
The Sky's the Limit! There are so many ways to create sky backgrounds for our cards and projects.  Often times, our blog readers are left staring at a beautiful sky and asking "How'd she do that?"
Show us one of your favorite ways to create a pretty sky background and make sure we know how to re-create it!

One technique I use a lot to create sky backgrounds is the Bouncing Brayer Technique.  It's really very simple!  I've created a short video to show you how I've created the background for my card today:

I used an oldie stamp set in the TE Store. . .Frightful Night.   After I brayered the sky using the Autumn Leaves Kaleidacolor pad, I stamped the trees and bats from the set.  Next I stamped, colored and cut out the clouds and tombstones and mounted them on the card with foam tape.  I added the fence using the Spooky Fence Border Die and then stamped the sentiment on a piece of cardstock that was die cut using the Banner Stacklets 1.  The papers are from the Halloween Parade Collection from Doodlebug.

I hope you enjoyed the video on how you can create your own Bouncing Brayer sky!!  Be sure to see how the rest of the Baker's Dozen created their sky!!

    Verve August Diva Dare

The August Diva Dare is going on over at the Verve Blog!   Today is my day to share what I came up with.  You can see what ALL of the Divas are coming up with. . .there's lots of gorgeous eye candy!!  ;)

I used the Swan Song set along with the leaves from Bloom & Grow for my card.  I can't even tell you how long ago I used Swan Song!  I paper pieced the swan using patterned paper from the Vintage Bliss Collection from Simple Stories and then colored the body of the swan with Copic markers.

The larger sentiment from the set was stamped on a piece of cardstock die cut with the Banner Bundle Die Set.  The leaves were die cut using the Elegant Leaves Die.  I added some seam binding from the Spring Fling Collection as well as some adhesive pearls to add some "sweetness" to the card.

To read all about this month's challenge and to play along for a chance to WIN. . .head on over to the Verve Blog!!  Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day!

Taylored Expressions August Stamp of the Month and Key Ingredients

Hi there!  I'm back today with another project using the August Stamp of the Month and Key Ingredients from Taylored Expressions!  The August Stamp of the Month is called S'more Fun and it is just that. . .FUN!!!  It has a coordinating die set that can be purchased separately called Around the Campfire

Don't you just LOVE these fun papers?  I do!  The August Key Ingredients really pair well with the August Stamp of the Month.  I stamped and die cut three trees to create my scene.  I stamped the star and tent and hand cut those.  For the sentiment, I stamped and embossed it and then die cut it with the Fly Your Flag 2 Die.   This set and papers are perfect for the outdoor-loving people in your life. . .or even a child.  The images in the stamp set are cute and fun and the sentiments are just as adorable!
