Enjoy the Journey

I have a pretty simple card today using a pretty cool technique.  It's called Paint Resist.  It's just like the traditional Resist Technique or "Ghosting", except you use paint instead of Versamark ink.  I inked up the fleur de lis background stamp from the Verve Bountiful Backgrounds set with Pearl Acrylic Paint Dabber.  I stamped it several times on a piece of white cardstock.  Once the paint dried, I rubbed Spiced Marmalade and Shabby Shutters Distress ink onto the piece and then wiped it with a cloth.  The paint resists the ink and creates this distressed-looking, textured background!

I stamped the sentiment from Bountiful Backgrounds onto Kraft cardstock and added score lines on the edges.  I die cut a heart out of black cardstock with the Jotted Heart Die and embossed it using the Tropical Paisley Sizzix Embossing folder.  I also applied some Pearl acrylic paint to the edges of the heart.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great day!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Bountiful Backgrounds (Verve Stamps); Ink- Spiced Marmalade, Shabby Shutters Distress inks (Ranger), Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- True Black, Kraft (PTI); Accessories- Pearl Acrylic Paint Dabber (Ranger), Jotted Heart Die (Verve Stamps), button (PTI);  Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Make It Monday - Stamping With Acrylic Paint

This week's Make It Monday Challenge is Stamping With Acrylic Paint.  I haven't been able to play along for a few weeks, so it was a fun challenge to jump in on!  I used the Garden Variety set for my card.  This set worked really well with my acrylic paint daubers.  I inked up the flower pot with Red Pepper Acrylic paint, and the grasses with Lettuce and Lemonade.  After letting the paint dry, I cut out the flower pot image.  I stamped other flowers from the set in Terra Cotta, Sunshine Yellow and Sunset Orange Acrylic paint.

I die cut the frame from the set using the Seed Packet Frame Die and attached it to the stamped flower piece with foam tape.  I then attached the cut out flower pot to the frame with foam tape.  The papers are from the Apple Cider Collection from Imaginisce.  You can see more entries for this week's challenge here.  Thanks for stopping by!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Garden Variety (Papertrey Ink); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine), Early Espresso (SU), Sunshine Yellow, Red Pepper, Orange Sunset, Lettuce, Lemonade, Terra Cotta Acrylic Paint Dabbers (Ranger);  Paper- Apple Cider Collection (Imaginisce); Accessories- Seed Packet Frame Die b(PTI);  Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Halloween Kisses, Bugs & Hisses

Today I have a little Halloween ensemble to share.  I used the Punchy Potions set from Taylored Expressions, along with the spider and web images from Spooky Expressions.  The papers are from the Spooky Project Pantry.

I started by using a Pearl Acrylic Paint Dauber to ink up the spider web and stamp it onto the grey cardstock.  I stamped the spider label from Punchy Potions twice. . .once on black cardstock and once on the patterned paper.  I cut the center of the patterned paper image and attached it over top of the center on the image stamped on black cardstock.  I mounted the whole label onto a piece I die cut with the Frame It Up 1 Die.

I added a rhinestone to the spider, then some Baker's Twine and a button from the Halloween Button Assortment.  I filled the Test Tube with orange and purple Skittles and added a tag I created with the Fright Night Favors set,  Favor Frame Die and cutting out a stamped spider from the Spooky Expressions set.

I'm starting to think about what I can create for school Halloween treats, and these test tubes may just be the ticket!  Thanks for stopping by today!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Punchy Potions, Spooky Expressions, Fright Night Favors (Taylored Expressions); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine), Frost White (Colorbox); Paper- Spooky Project Pantry (Taylored Expressions); Accessories- Frame It Up 1 Die, Baker's Twine, Halloween Button Assortment, Favor Frame Die, Test Tube (Taylored Expressions);  Finished card measures 4.25"x5.5"

I colored the turkey with Copic markers and created the flower with the Floral Circles Die Set from Verve.  I added a rhinestone brad to the flower and a button to the top right of the card because I just felt like I needed something there!  :)

Miniature Rose Tutorial

Today I have a card and a tutorial for you!  I created this card using the Birds of a Feather set from Taylored Expressions.  I used a quite a few dies on this card.  I used the Birds and Branch Die set, the Picket Fence Border Die, the Grass Border Die and the Heart Border Die.  You may be wondering where I used the Heart Border Die, and that's what the tutorial is for.  I used the Heart Border Die to create those miniature roses on the card!  They are super simple, so I hope you enjoy the video!

I stamped the bird cage and then cut it out and mounted it on the card.  The die cut birds were sponged on the edges and added to the bird cage.  The papers are from the Cherry Hill Collection from October Afternoon.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Birds of a Feather (Taylored Expressions); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Cherry Hill Collection (October Afternoon);  Accessories- Birds and Branch Die Set, Picket Fence Border Die, Grass Border Die, Heart Border Die (Taylored Expressions);  Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Spooky and Sweet

I can't believe it's soon time to start making Halloween cards and treats!  Where did the summer go?  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Halloween and Fall, but my favorite season is summer and it just doesn't stay long enough in these parts! :)  Today I have a card using one of the newest releases from Taylored Expressions, Moka Tabitha.  I think she is adorable. . .and I love her name!  It makes me think of  Bewitched!  :)

I used the Spooky Project Pantry for my card along with Black Pearls and Black Ice Glitter .  I colored Tabitha with Copic markers and paper pieced her skirt.  Did you know you can customize the Spooky Project Pantry?  You can add ingredients to "spice up" your kit!  You will see a list below the basic ingredients HERE that you can add!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope your week is off to a great start!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Moka Tabitha (Taylored Expressions); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Spooky Project Pantry (TE); Accessories- Black Ice Glitter, ribbon (TE), Black Pearls (Want2Scrap), circle punch (SU), Copic markers;  Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Smile

Today I have a little purse I created as a "just because" gift.  I used the Favor Box 6 from Papertrey Ink along with Bloom Builders #3, the Doily Details Collection, Tiny Tags Die and Tiny Tags Stamp set.  The leaves were created using the Sending You Die set.

I used Raspberry Fizz, Kraft, Vintage Cream, Orange Zest and Ripe Avocado cardstock.  The filler inside the box was created by cutting thin strips of Simple Chartreuse cardstock and scrunching it.  The button was attached to the flower with Rustic Jute Button Twine.  For the tag, I attached a piece of Raspberry Fizz behind the tag so that the cut out heart in the tag would show pink.  This would be a cute filled with gourmet chocolate, small jewelry or even a gift card peeking out!  Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope your long weekend is off to a great start!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Tiny Tags (PTI); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Raspberry Fizz, Kraft, Vintage Cream, Orange Zest, Ripe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse (PTI);  Accessories- Bloom Builders #3, Doily Details Collection, Tiny Tags Die, Sending You Die Set (PTI);

VLV Autumn Blessings

It's Friday and that means a new Viva la Verve Challenge is up!  This week's sketch comes to us from sweet, sweet Amber.  Her sketch is a long card and I haven't made a long card in a while, so it was a nice change for me.  :)

I used the Bountiful Harvest set for my card.  I just love the pumpkins in this set.  So cute!  I paired the set up with some patterned paper from the Apple Cider Collection by Imaginisce.  I created the focal pieces with the Embossed Oval Die from Verve.  I had to turn the middle one sideways to fit the sentiment.  I colored the pumpkins with Copic markers and added some Cinnamon Stickles to parts of the pumpkins and the leaves on the sentiment panel.

We hope you can play along in this week's Viva la Verve!  As always, there are Verve prizes involved!  And now through September 30, enjoy 25% savings on Autumn Stamps!!  Thanks for stopping by and Happy Shopping!  :)  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Bountiful Harvest (Verve Stamps); Ink- Burnt Umber (Palette), Vintage Cream (PTI); Paper- Apple Cider Collection (Imaginisce); Accessories- Embossed Oval Die (Verve Stamps), bling (Want2Scrap), Copic markers, Cinnamon Stickles;  Finished card measures 6"x3"

I also used the Spooky Impression Plate for my card.  I used the "letterpress" technique by inking the impression plate up with white craft ink before sending it through the Cuttlebug.  It really makes the spiderweb stand out.  I colored the image with Copic markers, and the ghost I colored with Illuminate Glitter Top Coat Smooch.  It gives the ghost a shimmery sheen that's just plain spooky!  ;)
