Verve's June Diva Dare

The June Diva Dare has begun over at the Verve Blog!  This month's theme is Puddles of Colour and pays tribute to Diva Jen (Deconstructing Jen) and Diva Janelle (Rain Puddles Design) both have an amazing eye for color.  We're daring you to create a card using coloring and/or painting.  If you want to kick the dare up a notch, you can add kraft card stock to the mix (Jen's specialty) and/or make a mixed media card (Janelle's specialty).  Head on over to the Verve Blog to see each Diva's take on the challenge!!

Make It Monday: Overlapping Ombre

It's been a long, long while since I've been able to participate in a Make It Monday Challenge, but I had some time this week and needed a birthday card, so I thought I'd put the two together!  This week's challenge is Overlapping Ombre.  I used the Sweet As Can Be set from Papertrey Ink for my card. 

I started by stamping the cone in Classic Kraft ink and then stamped the icecream in Berry Sorbet, Raspberry Fizz and Royal Velvet.  I added the cherry on top in Pure Poppy.  I stamped the sentiment in black and added the "sweet" in Pure Poppy as well.  To add a little accent on the top right, I die cut a flag using the Double-Ended Banners Die out of True Black cardstock.  Before adding the button with some Rustic Cream Button Twine, I die cut Flower Fusion #4 out of Ripe Avocado cardstock and added it behind the button.

Taylored Expressions June Stamp of the Month

Hi there!  I hope you're having a great week!  Today I have a new Stamp of the Month to share with you from Taylored Expressions!  TE has re-designed the Key Ingredients Kit Club and added two new options, the Stamp of the Month club and the Deluxe Subscription! This month's Stamp of the Month is called You Make Me Happy. . .and it certainly lives up to its name for me!!  :)   There is a coordinating die set called Rainy Days that makes using this stamp set even cuter!!  Rainy Days is available for purchase separately.  For my card I stamped the umbrella onto the white cardstock and again onto yellow.  I colored the handle on the one stamped on the white cardstock.  On the yellow umbrella, I cut out just the top portion and then attached the die cut "sections" of the umbrella onto the yellow.  One of the dies in the Rainy Days set die cuts the sections of the umbrella for you, so you can add different patterns or some dimension if you'd like!  Next I stamped and die cut the cloud and added some bling as "rain drops".  For the sentiment, I die cut a banner using the Banner Stacklets 1.  Don't you just LOVE the colors and patterns in the June Key Ingredients?  I do!

Mojo Best is Yet To Come

I got to play in another Mojo Monday today.  With the kids out of school now, I need to change my "stamping" time.  I didn't think I was going to be able to play today, but some down time happened and I snuck into my studio!  :)  I decided to use the Let It Be set from Verve along with the frame image from On Occasion and a smaller sentiment from Take Note. 

The papers are from the Sweet Collection from Echo Park.   I die cut some acetate with the Occasion Frame Die and then stamped and embossed it with the coordinating stamp.  I stamped "the best is yet to come" in Jet Black Staz On and then added some vellum behind the acetate to help the sentiment to stand out more.  I stamped the flower from Let It Be onto red cardstock and embossed it in black.  I die cut a piece of black cardstock with the Flag It Die Set and stamped the sentiment from Take Note on it and embossed it in white.  The scalloped edges of the panel were created with the Scalloped Trim Trio and a Scalloped Border punch from Stampin' Up.

Happy Graduation

Well, school is out for my kids and the summer is just getting started!  I'm really looking forward to a more relaxed pace.  :)  One thing that has picked up in our family is the graduations!  I thought I'd play along in this week's Mojo Monday Challenge and create a graduation card for an upcoming graduation! 

I used the Happy Graduation Plain Jane for my card along with papers from the Vintage Bliss Collection from Simple Stories. I just LOVE the papers in this collection and they are perfect for a girl graduate!!  I added some pearls and a Prima flower to embellish a little and finished the card off with some stitching.

Taylored Expressions June Spotlights: Ride the Wave

So did you get your shopping done?  :)  If you missed yesterday, all of the new products from Taylored Expressions are available now in the TE Store!  I've had a lot of fun creating with all of the new products for this release.  Today I have a project for you that uses the Ride the Wave set.  I just LOVE this set!  I LOVE having a silhouette set that can make awesome cards in minutes. . .because sometimes ya just don't have time to color!  :) 

I started by stamping the trees and the water onto white cardstock.  Then I stamped the surfer and sentiment and "dirtied" the edges of the panel by sponging brown ink around the card.  The border on the left was created using the Ride the Wave Border Die along with the Surfboard Die which coordinates with the surfboards in the set.  Isn't this set perfect for young boys?  Older boys too, but lately I've been needing birthday cards for little boys as most of my nephews have summer birthdays!

Taylored Expressions June Release Day: Pinking Circle Stacklets

 It is RELEASE DAY!!  Everything that you've seen featured these last few days is NOW AVAILABLE in the TE Store!!  I hope you've enjoyed what you've been seeing this week!  Today I have a project for you featuring the Pinking Circle Stacklets. 

I decided to create a little appreciation box.  It can be filled with a little gift or just used as a center piece, I thought.  I created the box using the 2-5-7-10 Box Tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.  The papers are from the Patriotic Project Pantry.  I used Distress Markers to color the stamp from Stars & Stripes with Coordinating Die.  I die cut the image and then stamped "God Bless the USA" in black over top.

After putting white filler in the box, I created the circles using the Pinking Circle Stacklets and some wire so that they would peek out of the box at different levels.  I decorating the pinking circles with buttons and some ribbon and stamped the thank you sentiment from the set on the biggest circle.  I have to say that the Pinking Circle Stacklets are my new favorite dies!!  I can't stop using them!  LOL

Taylored Expressions June Sneak Peek: Delightful Day and Moka Melissa

Welcome back for Day 2 of sneak peeks for Taylored Expressions!!  We have even more exciting things to share with you!!  I have two projects for you today.  The first uses a set that was previously released as a Key Ingredients exclusive set.  It is called Delightful Day.  Delightful Day is an adorable set that is just plain happy!  It just makes me smile.  :)  For this card, I used the NEW Delightful Day Conversation Bubbles Die Set that coordinates perfectly with the speech bubbles from the set!

I also used the NEW Pinking Circles Stacklets.  I stamped the birds onto the yellow pinking circle and again on patterned paper and paper pieced the birds.  Did you notice the fabulous background on this card?  Well, it's simple to re-create with the NEW Ray of Sunshine Cutting Plate!  I die cut the cutting plate 3 times. . .once from white cardstock, once from yellow cardstock and once from orange cardstock.  I used the white as the "base" and then filled in the "rays" with the yellow and orange.  Doesn't that make for a happy, happy card?  I thought the sentiment was perfect as well.  :)

My second project today uses the NEW Moka Melissa!!  This nurse image was inspired by former Baker's Dozen team member, Melissa Sauls who left the team to focus on nursing school.  Isn't Moka Melissa adorable?  (and so is the actual Melissa who I miss!!)  ;)

For this card I used the Patriotic Project Pantry along with the Pinking Circles Stacklets.  I paper pieced her shirt because I thought that pattern would make a great "nurse shirt".  The image was colored using Copic markers.  Here is a view of the Patriotic Project Pantry:

Taylored Expressions June Sneak Peek: GG Patriotic and Beach Border

It's that time again!!  Time for peeks of all of the new products that are coming to Taylored Expressions on Thursday, June 6th!!  This release is packed with summery goodness!  Today I have two projects to share with you.  The first uses the Graphic Greetings Patriotic set.  I decided to stamp and cut apart the sentiments for this project. 

I used the new Patriotic Project Pantry and created a flag with the patterned paper.  In the spaces for the white stripes, I added the cut apart sentiments from Graphic Greetings Patriotic.  To finish the card off, I added a little bow using some of the ribbon that comes in the Project Pantry.

My second project uses the NEW Beach Border Die.  The Beach Border Die is a fun die that can make a card in minutes, or you can spend a little more time like I did.  :)  I decided I wanted to "paper piece" my die cut so I die cut the border out of several cardstock and cut pieces to glue over top of a brown base. 

The background paper was stamped with a wave image from the NEW Ride the Wave set, as well as the sentiment.  After I finished paper piecing the die cut, I added some Stardust Stickles to the palm trees to give a little sparkle.  Doesn't this die look fun??  Now, of course you can make it simple and die cut it in one color as a silhouette and place over top of a fabulous background that you've created for a sky.  :)
