Pick a Polka Dot

This is for today's Sketch Challenge on SCS. I haven't used my Pick a Petal set in a little while, so I thought I'd pull it back out. Sometimes that's the hardest part of creating a card. . .deciding what stamp set to use. When I don't have to make a card for a specific reason (sympathy, birthday, thank you) I find it hard to decide WHAT kind of card I want to make. Do any of you agree? Most often, if I can't decide, I'll just use a specific stamp set so that the images and sentiments are decided for me. . .or at least narrowed down. In this particular instance, there really isn't a sentiment in the Pick a Petal set unless you just ink up the "smile" part of the one petal, and that was smaller than I wanted. I decided the card looked bright and cheery and thought the sentiment from Thoughtful Phrases by Verve Visual was perfect. (By the way, you can now pre-order the newest Verve Visual set, Fancy Florals. Follow the link and check it out!) Something new (to me anyway) that I did on this card was make the dry embossed polka dots with my Crop-a-Dile. I saw this neat idea on Beate's blog. Cool, isn't it? I'd love to know how some of you choose what kind of card you're going to make when you don't need a card for a specific occasion! :) Thanks for stopping by today. . .it really brightens my day when you do! :) SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Pick a Petal, Thoughtful Phrases (Verve Visual); Ink- Purely Pomegranate, Basic Black, So Saffron; Paper- Cutie Pie DP, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, Basic Black, So Saffron; Accessories- grosgrain ribbon, horizontal slot punch, paper piercer, black marker, rhinestone brad, Crop-a-Dile, Pick a Petal brass template.

WOW, you are quick! LOVE the card! I am still getting my daily "work" done (while checking your blog, lol). I am so over that sketch once I am done!

LOVE the happy colors of the card and the set you chose.

Have a wonderful day! Hugs!!!

Beautiful card...Love those colors! I can't wait to get my cutie pie paper!!!

And I tend to be pretty similar when not making a card for a specific reason. I need to narrow it down by picking a stamp set otherwise I just can't seem to decide on anything!!

I love this!!! You sooo rock!
Ok, so when I don't need a specific kind of card I look through my sentiments and use one that I think either goes with the image or could be adjusted for any occasion. More like a thinking of you card.

this is so sweet! i struggle with PAP, and i don't know why. worked almost 2 hours yesterday to get the card i posted at my blog today, and i'm not sure i'm thrilled with it! like the color combo and the little knotted ribbon down the side. i LOVE dry embossed stuff, so now a crop-a-dile is on my list as well!

Very cute card Charmaine! I need to start using that set again too - it seems as I get more, the other "new ones" don't get used too much! Aaaahhhh, so many stamp sets, so little time - LOL! *STAMPIN HUGS* Alex

Great card - I love the colors. I look at my stamps sometimes as a challenge, especially if I don't have a certain card in mind to make. Sometimes it surprises me the stamps I have that I haven't used. So I challenge myself to see what I can come up with.
