Beate Weekend Sketch #16

This is for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. I turned the sketch on its side, though. :) I have had the ABC Alphabet Upper and Lower since I could first order them, and this is the FIRST time I have used them! Can you believe that? When I was thinking about Beate's sketch and deciding which stamp set to go with, I was also thinking about something else that has been on my mind a lot lately. . .Savannah starting preschool. So, I combined the two thoughts and decided to use my ABC Alphabets for the first time! This is how the sketch ended up sideways. . .it wouldn't fit the other way! :)

Savannah, as most of you know, is my oldest so this is the first time I'm experiencing sending a child off to school. I know it's only 2 days a week, but I'm still nervous! She's never really been away from me. I'm not so nervous about how she'll do in school because she's SO excited and I'm sure she'll adjust instantly. I'm nervous about her severe peanut allergy. Those of you who have never had to deal with food allergies probably have no idea the worry that a parent goes through. I have no idea what another child might try to "share" with her when I'm not there to tell her it might contain peanuts. We've always carried an Epi-Pen for her, but have never had to use it and I pray we never will! Anyway, school starts September 6 for her and I thought this card would make a nice piece of the scrapbook pages I intend to make for her first day of school.

So head on over to Beate's blog and give the sketch a try! It's another great one! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- ABC Alphabet Upper and Lower, My ABC's wheel; Paper- Cutie Pie Designer series, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, Basic Black; Ink- Basic Black, Purely Pomegranate; Accessories- Spiral Binding punch, Jumbo circle punch, 1" circle punch, polka dot organdy ribbon, paper piercer, Basic Black marker, DCWV stickers, Stamp-a-ma-jig.

It's hard to let the first one go off to school. But it will be okay, I promise. Savannah will love it and Arwen and you will treasure your time with just each other.

Your card looks FANTASTIC! I absolutely love it. Thanks for making a sample for the sketch challenge. HUGS

The first day is the hardest on the parents. Colin did an "All by Myself" program at the Park District when he was 2 1/2 and I cried when he walked right in and ignored me. I think it would have been easier if he even cared I was leaving him. He just now started his 2nd year of Preschool and I am excited that he loves school so much.

The allergies are hard. Colin has several luckily not severe enough to require an epi pen, but it is worrisome. The teachers are wonderful about it though and I hope yours are too.

The card is awesome! I so need to get this set and will get several years out of it with 2 kids in the house. I love the colors, paper and everything about it.

I love this alpha, too, Charmaine, and you used it wonderfully here! Great project using the sketch, I love these papers together!

I bet you won't have any worries about Savannah's peanut allergy -- the schools my daughters have been in haven't even allowed anything in the schools that contain peanuts, for allergy reasons.

Fantastic card!!! Love all the details you put on it!

First day of school is hard no matter what but I understand you worry when it comes to allergies. Not sure of the school your daughter is going to but here many of ours are Peanut FREE because there are so many allergies.
One main rule of our school is NO sharing, kids learn that from the get go!

I can appreciate your concern! My DD has asthma and constantly worry about her. I just sent my baby boy to preschool this year so all of my kids are in school now! I did wait until I got out of the building to cry!LOL!

Such an awesome card - you totally "rocked" that challenge (I always feel funny saying that! :) but it's true!!) Anyway, I know you're nervous but Savannah will have soooo much fun and you'll be amazed at how she grows and blossoms this year!

Beate is right, it's hard to see the first one go off to school, but it gets easier. Enjoy the extra time with Arwen.

This card is soooo cute! Perfect for back to school!!!

Your daughter will do just fine I'm sure, you on the other hand if your anything like I was, will probably cry and worry about her and how her day is going.
I never realized what parents go through when a child has a nut allergy until I invited a friend of my son's to come to his birthday party. I studied everything I purchased for the party, reading every ingredent to make sure that there was no nuts and that this little boy was safe. It made me very nervous and I cant imagine how his parent felt.
Your card is adorable and will make a sweet adition to your daugther scrapbook page!

This is darling!!!! I hope things go well for Savannah (and you!) this year. My youngest is 3 and is also starting preschool 2 days a week this year. My oldest just started high school!! Don't know where the time went -- but the joys far outweigh the worries!! :)
