TE February Key Ingredients

Today I have another post for you using the February Key Ingredients Kit from Taylored Expressions.  I created a photo tutorial to go along with my project as well, so it's a bit of a long post with LOTS of pictures! :)  I created this long heart box and card ensemble.

1.  I started by die cutting 3 heart favor boxes using the Heart Favor Box Die. I cut two in the Arizona colored cardstock and one in the Beeswax

2.  Then I cut most of the top and bottom off of the middle box (the Beeswax color) and either the top or bottom of the remaining two boxes.  In the photo, the furthest left box will end up being the top of the long box, so I left the whole top and trimmed the bottom.  The furthest right box is going to be the bottom of the long box, so I trimmed the top of the box but left the bottom intact.

3.  Next I cut angles on the trimmed tabs so that they would more easily fit inside each other.  The next three photos show the three assembled pieces of the boxes from the front, the top and the bottom.

4.  This step can be done before assembling the separate pieces, but I stamped mine after since I had to make sure the pieces would fit together.  I flattened the pieces and stamped them using the Vintage Dreamer set and added Sticky Tape to the tabs.

5.  Attach the three boxes to form one long box.

6.  Here is an inside view of how they are attached.

7.  Since the back of the assembled boxes had some spaces, I cut a piece to fit the long box, stamped it and attached it to the back of the box for a finished look.

8.  The last thing I did was adhere a piece of transparency behind the heart windows.

I filled the box with some Cadbury Mini Eggs, but since it's a long box, you can add longer items.  The only thing I had on hand were Fruit Roll Ups.  They didn't make for a nice picture with such an elegant looking box, so I didn't use them for the final project.  I did take a picture so that you could get an idea of the types of "long" treats that would fit in the box.

I hope you've enjoyed today's project and tutorial!  You can see more creations today using the February Key Ingredients from Jessie and Jodi!!

MIM Sending You Sunshine

It has been a long while since I've been able to participate in the Make It Monday Challenge, so it was nice to be able to play today.  This week's challenge was Double Sided Stamped Die Cuts.  I used the Simple Sunflower set and coordinating dies for my card.

I stamped the sunflowers using Summer Sunrise and Canyon Clay ink.  The leaves were stamped with Ripe Avocado.  I die cut the tag with the Tag Sale #5 die and stamped the sentiment in Fresh Snow ink.  I created the "grassy hills" with the In the Meadow Die Collection.  The background of the card was layered with white cardstock die cut with the Cover Plate: Quatrefoil.  There are pieces of the sunflowers and the leaves that are curled forward to reveal the "double sided stamping".  You can see more creations for this challenge here

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Simple Sunflower (Papertrey Ink); Ink- Summer Sunrise, Canyon Clay, Ripe Avocado, Dark Chocolate, Fresh Snow (Papertrey Ink); Paper- Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink);  Accessories- Tag Sale #5 Die, In the Meadow Die Collection, Cover Plate: Quatrefoil, Simple Sunflower Die Colleciton, Summer Sunrise Swiss Dots ribbon (Papertrey Ink);  Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Thanks a Bunch

I have a card using this week's Viva la Verve Sketch!  This week's sketch is from Amber and it's awesome!  It's been a while since I've created a long card, so this was a nice excuse.  :)  I used the Bloom & Grow set from Verve along with the Vintage Oval Frame stamp.  I used the coordinating dies as well. . .Floral Circles Die Set, Elegant Leaves Die, and the Vintage Oval Die

The papers are from the Victoria Gardens Collection by Echo Park.  I stamped the flowers using Autumn Rose, Scarlet Jewel, Ripe Avocado, Hawaiian Shores and Ocean Tides ink.  I added "pearls" to the centers of the flowers with a Cream Pearl Pen and some Stardust Stickles to the petals.  After stitching around the panels of the card, I added a scalloped border to the left side of the card using a Martha Stewart border punch.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day!

Thinking of You

As a result of the beautiful weather we've been having for "winter", I decided to go with some happy and bright papers that remind me of Spring.  I used the Colorwheel Collection from Doodlebug.  The stamp set is Birds of a Feather from Taylored Expressions along with the coordinating Birds and Branch Dies.  I also used the Grass Border Die along the bottom of the focal panel.

I'm not a big fan of my doodling.  I LOVE when other people do it and I think it looks so cool, but mine never turns out how I see others.  Even still, this card makes me smile with all of the happy colors.  I hope it makes you smile too!  Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day!

My Heart Is Yours

This week's Mojo Monday Sketch is either round or square!  I chose the square sketch.   I started with the Swirling Hearts set from Verve for the focal piece of the card.  I die cut the patterned paper using the Vintage Oval Frame Die and then stamped the frame and sentiment.  I die cut another piece of patterned paper from the Paper Heart Collection by Crate Paper with the Jotted Heart Die and tucked that behind the focal piece.

I added a little miniature rose, some ribbon, pearls and a little Stardust Stickles.  I felt like it was still missing something, so I die cut the leaves with the Elegant Leaves Die and then stamped the leaves from the Bloom & Grow set.  To finish the card off, I stitched around the border.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you're having a wonderful day!  SUPPLIES USED:  Stamps- Swirling Hearts, Bloom & Grow (Verve Stamps); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine), Pure Poppy (PTI); Paper- Paper Heart Collection (Crate Paper), Bazzill; Accessories- Vintage Oval Frame Die, Jotted Heart Die, Elegant Leaves Die (Verve Stamps), Stardust Stickles, rose (Prima), pearls (Want2Scrap);  Finished card measures 4.25" square

Hello

Have you seen that the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge is back?  I have definitely missed it!  Sketches are my favorite kind of challenge.  For the current sketch, I used the Bugabee set along with the Bugabee Bugs Die Set.  The papers are from the Finally Fall Collection from Bella Blvd.

I die cut the wings twice and layered them with the top set folded back a bit.  I used the Grass Border Die along with the Plain and Scallop Circle Nestabilities to create the focal panel.  I embellished with Kaisercraft Pearls and some Red Glimmer Ribbon.  The sentiment is stamped in Jet Black StazOn onto a transparency.

Come play along with the sketch!  You know you want to!  :)
