Home Decor

Since I usually make cards and a few (very few as of late) scrapbook pages, I thought I would branch out and try some "home decor". I purchased these wooden letters at Joann a little while back with the intention of altering them for my girls' bedroom wall. "S" for Savannah, "A" for Arwen. I covered each letter with Mod Podge, then placed them face down on the back side of the patterned paper. I traced each letter with a craft knife to cut away the excess paper, turned the letters back over and sanded the edges to blend the paper into the wood. The sides were then painted with acrylic paint. I really didn't know what to do with the embellishments, so I kept them simple. . . a flower, a few ribbons and, most importantly, a picture of each of the girls. The pictures are attached with the clips so that I can change them as the girls get older. I saw this idea in a scrapbook magazine a while back. Now to actually put the letters on the wall! :) SUPPLIES USED: Paper-Oriental Trading patterned paper, olive and pink; Accessories- Making Memories clips and brads, May Arts ribbon, Prima flowers, Americana acrylic paints in White and Antique Mauve.

These are really cute! I've had an M for over a month now with some paint and patterned paper on it, but I can't seem to decide on embellishments. Thanks for the ideas!

This is so cute. I was going to make a couple of shadowboxes for baby gifts, but this looks like a really neat alternative!!!
