Sticking With It

Yesterday, I had so much fun with my card using the Bold Brights color family, that I decided to stick with it. This card uses Tempting Turquoise and Brilliant Blue. I have to tell you, though, that so many things went wrong with this card, but I refused to start over after investing too much time in it already! I started with inspiration from Beate and her trifold cards . This particular one she calls "Cami Style" after Cambria Turnbow. I also used a closure that I saw here on Nichole Heady's blog. I wanted to use my Creative Memories Bubblemaker again and Silly Sealife. So I went with the dolphin since I thought he'd be perfect for the window. I used my Mega circle punch for the window. I stamped the dolphin on Whisper White, watercolored him, cut him out and mounted him on the inside with dimensionals. I used pool water patterned paper from a DCWV Spring Stack. Here's where things started to go wrong. I pierced holes around the window to frame the dolphin, and the one hole at the top was too close to the edge of the card and the piece ripped open. Now I needed to find some way to keep it together. That's how the transparency circle happened. It helped hold that thin piece at the top together. Once I had that in place I stamped "happy" on the transparency, but it didn't show up very well, so I put a white piece of paper behind it (punched with the word window punch) and attached it to the dolphin piece. I stamped "happy" in Tempting Turquoise on the white piece to give a shadow effect and so that "happy" would be on the inside when you opened the card. I used the white gel pen to enhance the bubbles and to circle the pierced holes lining the window. I stamped "Happy Day" from Tagger's Dozen along the outside edge of the card and added some polka ribbon on the slit punch tabs. On the inside, I stamped "Happy" from Happy Everything in Craft White, but it didn't show up very well on the pool paper, so I had to put the piece of Tempting Turquoise with "Happy" stamped in black to cover up the "mistake". I stamped "Days" in Craft White on black cardstock and punched it out with the Word Window punch. I thought about adding bubbles or something over where you'd write, but I decided to just leave it like it was before something else went wrong! :) Photographing the card was a whole other complication! I couldn't get a good angle where there wasn't a glare on the transparency and the "happy" shadow didn't look really off. Oh well, you get the picture. Most cards look better in real life anyway, right? Have a "Happy Day" and thanks for visiting!
