LSC106 The Bold and the Beautiful!

Today's post is for the Limited Supplies Challenge over at SCS. It was to use the Bold Bright color family. That's a color family I don't use very often, but I do love the colors in it. For this card I used Lovely Lilac, Tempting Turquoise and Gable Green. I decided I wanted to do a card using the crayon resist technique. You can check out the great tutorial that Beate wrote right here on Splitcoast. Basically what happens is that wherever you put white crayon on the glossy cardstock, ink won't "stick", so you'll have white spots. I saw a card done like this a long while ago. . .I can't remember by whom, but you stamp the image in black ink on glossy cardstock. Then you go back and use a lighter color as a "shadow" and stamp a little off of the black stamped image. You color JUST the shadow in with the white crayon. Then I sponged Gable Green ink all over the background and wiped the butterflies with a paper towel to reveal the "white spots". I thought it was a pretty cool look when I saw it. I used my Marvy Uchida Giga Scallop Circle punch and the Mega circle punch for the focal point. I used BOTH a Tempting Turquoise scalloped circle and a Gable Green scalloped circle and turned it so you could see the Gable Green scallops in the window of the turquoise scallops. I stamped "hello" on Lovely Lilac cardstock and punched it out with the large oval punch. I used the horizontal slot punch to make a place to lace the ribbon through and tied it around the scalloped circle and mounted it with dimensionals. The scallop circles are mounted with dimensionals as well. As a final touch I used my White Signo gel pen to enhance the scallops. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day!
